Frankie My Dear, I Don't Give A Damn...
animal_8_512 March 2006
This was Canada's answer to John Cleese's enormously successful BBC hit, "Fawlty Towers." This one starred British comic Frankie Howerd as a roomer in a Toronto boarding house.

He interacts with the boarding house mother, her family and the other roomers. The buxom Denise (Peggy Mahon) was the butt of his far too many "breast" jokes in the program, which mercifully lasted only 12 episodes.

It had some potential, featuring top Canadian comic Jack Duffy. However, Howerd's bawdy humor and suggestive asides to the camera didn't quite meet the eclectic standard set by Fawlty Towers.

Joining vast legions of low-budget stinkers, The Frankie Howerd Show disappeared into the abyss of Canadian entertainment failures. Frankie, wherever he ended up, is probably thankful it did.
