‘Macunaima,’ from ‘Alligator Girl!’ Director Felipe Braganca, Enrolls Zahy Guajajara, Denilson Baniwa (Exclusive)
Brazilian writer-director Felipe Bragança, whose “Don’t Swallow My Heart, Alligator Girl!” played Sundance and Berlin in 2017, has enrolled a team of cutting edge Brazilian indigenous artists to realize movie “Macunaima,” his contemporary reimagining of one of the most important novels in Brazilian literature.

Zahy Guajajara, a poet, actress (“The Brothers”), who formed part of the motorbike gang in “Alligator!,” and indigenous activist, has boarded “Macunaima” as a script collaborator, and the movie’s co-director. Denilson Baniwa, a visual artist and another indigenous activist, will serve as a visual consultant and collaborator.

Anthropologist Hermano Vianna has also joined “Macunaíma” as a script collaborator and conceptual consultant. Set to be presented at International Film Festival Rotterdam’s CineMart co-production market in early February, the insider knowledge and creative talent that these figures bring to the project ensure that it will not be made by an uninformed white outsider, Bragança told Variety in the run-up to CineMart.

Netflix Added 49 New Movies And 24 New TV Shows This Week

Netflix Added 49 New Movies And 24 New TV Shows This Week
For the first time in a while, Netflix is adding no new titles today, so let’s instead take the opportunity to recap what’s gone up on the streaming site over the past week, from Saturday, August 1st to Saturday, August 8th. As that encompasses the first day of the month, there was a huge amount of fresh content added to Netflix’s library over this period. To be exact, there were 49 movies and 24 TV shows.

On the film side of things, this haul includes many an acclaimed or cult favorite flick from across the decades in all kinds of genres. The highlight is probably the entire Jurassic Park trilogy, which has proved popular with Netflix users as the first two entries have been hanging around the top 10 most-watched movies list almost ever since arriving. 80s classic fantasy flick The NeverEnding Story and its sequel were added on the 1st as well,

Netflix Added Over 50 New Movies This Past Week

Netflix Added Over 50 New Movies This Past Week
With the summer starting to wind down, Netflix appear to be taking their foot off the gas a little bit when it comes to releasing high-profile original movies. Over the last few months, the streaming service has debuted a string of in-house projects that have either been subjected to widespread critical acclaim or racked up huge viewing numbers, and frequently both.

Netflix can sometimes be fairly secretive about their viewership data unless they’re shouting their success from the rooftops, and having recently revealed their Top 10 most-watched original movies ever, you can understand why they went public. If you include the reported 72 million streams for Charlize Theron’s The Old Guard that would see it claim sixth spot in the rankings, then four of the Top 10 were released between March and July of this year alone.

However, despite having a huge number of high-profile originals scheduled for the rest of the year,

A new doctor is coming to Chastain Memorial Park Hospital when “The Resident” returns for its third season this September, with this one played by Morris Chestnut.

Chestnut is joining Season 3 of the Matt Czuchry-led Fox medical drama as Dr. Barrett Cain, “an intimidating neurosurgeon hired by Red Rock Medical to turn around Chastain’s finances.”

His ability to exact swift revenge on any who oppose him will put the good doctors at Chastain in jeopardy and drive the season-long thriller arc.

[Review] The Perfect Match

Pleasant enough, if not paper-thin and featherweight, The Perfect Match is a bland picture starring attractive people that never quite seems to connect the dots. The romance at the core of the story is between Charlie (Terrence Jenkins), an agent with an incredible home, and Eva (Cassie Ventura, perhaps best known as R&B singer Cassie who had a hit single Me & U a few years ago), a gorgeous women of little substance — although we learn she does like House of Cards. At one point in their friends with benefits arrangement, director Billie Woodruff (Honey, Addicted) makes his point with a montage scored to current radio hit Player by Tinashe, in one of the many moments that feel a little too on the nose.

With an uneven ensemble, The Perfect Match attempts to add context to Charlie’s life: his sister Sherry (Paula Patton) is conveniently a therapist who offers

"White Collar" three-cap (4.11-4.13) : "Where's Diana?"

Tags: White CollarDiana BerriganMarsha ThomasonIMDb

White Collar holds a very dear place in my heart. It’s the show about which I first wrote for AfterEllen. So I love it in a perfect, first love, kind of way. That will probably never change but it doesn’t mean I don’t think they should use Agent Diana Berrigan a whole lot more. Because she hasn’t been featured heavily in the three episodes so far, I’m lumping them together to get you caught up on the show.

Family Business (4.11)

When last we left our heroes Neal had just discovered that mystery man “Sam” is actually his dad. We begin this part of the season with Neal confronting “Sam” about being his Papa. It turns out that “Sam” is actually James Bennett, who was once a corrupt cop in Washington, D.C. but who, in spite of confessing to the crime,
