Storyline

Arthur and his two children, Kathy and Bobby, inherit his Uncle Cyrus's estate: a glass house that serves as a prison to 12 ghosts. When the family, accompanied by Bobby's Nanny and an attorney, enter the house they find themselves trapped inside an evil machine "designed by the devil and powered by the dead" to open the Eye of Hell. Aided by Dennis, a ghost hunter, and his rival Kalina, a ghost rights activist out to set the ghosts free, the group must do what they can to get out of the house alive. Written by ahmetkozan

I had a choice between watching this and "Jeepers Creepers'. I chose "13 Ghosts" because I had seen '"Jeepers Creepers 2" and it really didn't impress me. Before the film started, I checked its rating, and roughly knew what to expect.

The film was put together to form something that comes under the badly-remade-horror category.

Hmmm...let's sum up the good things... The lawyer's death was a nice touch of gore, which this film doesn't have much of. I love the ghosts-they all have a different backgrounds and are pictured brilliantly, not using CGI for the first time in a horror film in a long time-I just wish they concentrated more on who the ghosts are. The building itself is different, and that is refreshing too. The idea with the machine and why the ghosts were kept was quite interesting, but it wasn't turned into a good script. It is awfully clichéd, it is not acted out well and it wasn't unpredictable and surprising enough. The story has some twists, but they aren't what they should be.

I didn't mind this film too much. On the whole it was quite poor, but it had the potential to be good. If only more work was put into it, it could really have been something. But unfortunately it just turned out to be a popcorn flick which doesn't require you to use your grey cells. But hey, nice to watch something which can let your brain relax after a whole day of hard work. Am I right?

Oh, and I shall just mention the creatures of the make up department again. They do make the film a a bit worthwhile, and I hope that the work of the department was appreciated.
