Rocket Power (1999) - News Poster

R. Lee Ermey Has Passed Away

With a relentless delivery of some of the most head-turning lines in cinema, R. Lee Ermey had a commanding, unparalleled screen presence in films and television, and we're sad to share the news of the iconic actor's passing at the age of 74.

The news of R. Lee Ermey's passing was shared on Twitter by his manager, Bill Rogin, who posted:

"It is with deep sadness that I regret to inform you all that R. Lee Ermey ("The Gunny") passed away this morning from complications of pneumonia. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

Semper Fi, Gunny. Godspeed."

A Us Marine, Vietnam veteran, and drill instructor in real life, Ermey brought that same military intensity, determination, and passion to the big screen in 1987 for his standout role as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket.

Although he's perhaps best known for his award-worthy work in Full Metal Jacket,

Napoleon Dynamite Director Is Making a NickToons Movie, Thus Completing the Cycle of Millennial Nostalgia
Nickelodeon has confirmed that it’s making a NickToons movie, because no one ever went broke betting on millennials' nostalgia for their own childhood. Paramount and Nickelodeon have tapped Napoleon Dynamite's Jared Hess to direct, with a script by Hess and his wife and writing partner Jerusha Hess. There aren’t many details yet, but Deadline reports that the film will combine characters from across the Nickelodeon universe, as well as incorporate live-action segments in the manner of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? We don’t know which NickToons will be featured in the film yet, but Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh! Real Monsters, The Angry Beavers, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Wild Thornberrys, Rocket Power, and CatDog are all on the table. (What this means for the planned Hey Arnold! TV movie is unknown.) Now we are just left to wonder who the live-action actors will be, and

If you’ve never seen the series, don’t worry; there’s a two-page introduction that will tell you all that you need to know in order understand the comic. But that doesn’t mean that you aren’t missing out by forgoing the show! Since this is the first issue, allow me to indulge in a bit of history.

In the late 90s, Nickelodeon wanted to attract the kind of audience that

This week, TeenNick launched its “The ’90s Are All That” midnight-2 a.m. block to strong ratings. The retro roster inspired a wave of nostalgia in college-age and older viewers, who remembered growing up under the influence of the fashion sense of Clarissa Darling, the good-kid-done-wrong ethos of Doug Funnie, and the slapstick stylings of Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. But beyond Kenan, Kel, Clarissa, and Doug, who will be next to to burn the midnight oil?

TeenNick does not yet have set end date in mind for the block, though it has already confirmed that it will start introducing

Chances are your heart leapt into your throat earlier this week when you saw the "announcements" that Nickelodeon would produce new episodes of Doug, Hey Arnold!, The Angry Beavers, Rocket Power, and Rugrats; and, to a lesser extent, that Hilary Duff had signed on with Disney for a new series, Lizzie McGuire: College Life. Review: The Men Who Stare At Goats – He Said/She Said

I’d like to introduce you all to our newest hosts of He Said/She Said. John Cooper and Leah Ducey. Enjoy their review of The Men Who Stare At Goats.

John: Want to know what movie The Men Who Stare At Goats reminds me of the most, and not just because it came out a few months ago?

Leah: Uhm. Can I have a hint?

John: We saw it together. It featured a similarly sluggish plot, but had about as many laughs, and to be honest I’ve forgotten most of it. Which is sort of what I expect to see happening with Grant Heslov’s new movie. And similarly to this instance, we sat in the front row, with our necks craned back at 90 degree angles, because we showed up 5 minutes late. Because we’re idiots.

Leah: Ahhhh. The Informant!

John: Indeed!

Leah: We were casually late.
