Standard One-Joke Comedy for 1899
10 August 2017 | by bobliptonSee all my reviews

A noisy young couple are canoodling beneath a cranky man's window garden. When he can't sleep, he makes his displeasure known.

This early American Mutoscope & Biograph comedy is fairly standard for the era, with a set-up and a quick revenge; given that a full movie in this era lasted only 28 seconds, there's little opportunity for more. It's clearly shot on a stage and as likely played in the company's Mutoscopes -- hand-cranked peep-show machines -- as well as projected on a screen.

If you wish to take a look at this yourself, a good copy can be found on the Eye Institute site on YouTube.
