Following its relocation in Hungary, a Bordeaux firm specialised in model boats lays off its entire staff. Françoise and Gérard Delmas, 50 years old, with their comfortable redundancy pay, are at long last free to choose how they want to live. Françoise decides to go and work in her sister's restaurant in La Rochelle. Gérard, who stays on his own in Bordeaux, does everything he can for his grandson and daughter-in-law, Nathalie, who is bored and depressive.
