Paul Hogan had stated in an interview that there wasn't going to be a 3rd "Crocodile Dundee" film and had felt that the story of Mick Dundee had been finished and that he isn't James Bond and he doesn't go all over the world solving crimes.

One early idea for a third Crocodile Dundee film was to have Mick Dundee team up with Eddie Murphy's character Axel Foley from the Beverly Hills Cop (1984) films in a crossover film.
