I saw this creaky old b & w short at the same festival that was exhibiting "A Morning Alarm," the silent documentary made the same year.
American "moving photography" was well advanced by the time this was made although it is arguable the degree to which it could be considered "film" as such. This particular short is most interesting as it encapsulates a New York approaching the new century with pride and hope. Again, good use was made of the natural light as the ferry moves off from its moorings.
