Storyline

Faces of Death VI is a direct-to-video compilation of the highlights of the earlier films in the Faces of Death series. It features many of the same scenes shown in Faces of Death 1 and 4, as well as the earlier compilation Faces of Death V. It begins without any opening credits, before recycling (for the third time) the sequence from Faces of Death involving the killing of a monkey which is then prepared and served to patrons of a gourmet restaurant, also shown for the second time is the staged heart ripping scene by African natives and the "head in a box" scene, both taken from Faces of Death IV. John Alan Schwartz's cameo as the leader of the flesh eating cult, as well as "The encapsulation of Samuel Berkowitz", are also featured again, and the final credits are those from Faces of Death. Trivia

In the US release of this video, there is no new footage, it's just highlights from the first four Faces of Death movies edited together differently. In the rarely seen, out-of-print mail order version from the 1990s, there is entirely different footage, bleached out almost completely. The German version, titled Gesichter Des Todes 6, consists of completely different stock footage. See more »

Crazy Credits

The final credits are those from Faces of Death (1978) shown entirely, with no new technical credits whatsoever. See more »

Alternate Versions

There are at least three different versions of this film available:
  • 1. The first version is part of the German version of the series. _Gesichter Des Todes VI_ (1992) (V) is the title, and it has been released on video, and later DVD, in Germany only, in German language, and a French dubbed version, and no English option. This version is all different footage, with a German narrator. However, it is possible it is just a different "death" film re-titled. Some of the images on the back of the "Gesichter Des Todes VI" DVD case are from some of the same footage found on "Faces Of Death: the Millennium".
  • 2. The second is a mail-order ONLY version (Fangoria possibly offered it in the back of old issues?) that is no longer available. If you searched for "Faces of Death 6" to download anywhere online, THIS is the version you would have found. It features all different footage, and the title screen reads "FACES OF DEATH" and then the word "SIX" slowly becomes imposed over the text. There are two alternative titles for it as well, Faces Of Death Volume 6, and The Shocking Faces Of Death, but the footage is the same. As stated on various sites, this version is extremely washed out. Most of the scenes are almost completely white and unwatchable. It should also be noted that at the very end of this version, the "Gorgon Video" bumper begins to play, but is suddenly cut off. Who released this, when, and how it was released is unknown.
  • 3. The third version is the most well known, it was released sort of "unofficially" by Gorgon Video in the U.S. in 1996. It utilizes the box's artwork from part four and *reverses* it. It contains clips mostly from Faces Of Death parts one and four, and has the opening credits from part one. If you bought or rented "Faces of Death 6" on video at a store in the U.S., this is the version you have watched.

Explanation of Releases
2 March 2009 | by dedman818See all my reviews

I'm not going to review any particular release of Faces of Death 6, simply explain the fact that there are at least 3 different versions of the film.

1. A film comprised of nothing but recycled footage from 1 through 4 2. Gesichter des Totes 6. A brand new film continuing the serious with minimal recycled footage, only released in Germany with only German audio and no subtitles.

3. A new film, without any recycled footage. A lot of violence in Africa, and most the rest is news footage from around the globe. This was released only via mail order, and the original version that was sold is very bleached out in parts, leaving whole sections of the film practically unwatchable.

1 is rather rare, 2 has been released on VHS and now DVD in Germany, and 3 is practically extinct except for an incredibly rare video file that floats around the internet.
