King Edward VII of England and the President of the French Republic, Armand Fallières, envision tunnelling the English Channel; nevertheless, only a maiden voyage can determine whether this is a triumphant aspiration or an acrid nightmare.
Melies stands on stage doing his magician schtick. He first creates a woman from out of the air. He then takes a bubble straw and makes bubbles that seem like women's heads. He pops them. Now there are more women. It's been done to death. The director mug and manipulates his audience and does things that he couldn't do in a normal magic show.
