In hindsight, 1978's "Halloween" was always destined to have a sequel. Co-writer/director John Carpenter and co-writer/producer Debra Hill even included a particularly prophetic line of dialogue in their tale of a supernaturally-charged maniac, Michael Myers, terrorizing his hometown on Halloween night: "You can't kill the bogeyman." Thanks to the film's massive success critically, commercially, and culturally, "Halloween II" was practically a given.
While "Halloween" concludes with the assertion that Myers has indeed not yet been killed, a trickier question for Carpenter and Hill concerned what to do with the other surviving supporting characters. Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) was established as the Van Helsing to Myers' Dracula, so his return was fairly natural. A bigger issue revolved around bringing back star Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, the babysitter who unfortunately crosses Myers' path and becomes the focus of his All Hallows' Eve rampage. More than 20 years after it was first released, Jon Favreau’s Elf is as beloved as ever. The fact that people still enjoy this modern holiday classic, even after being screamed at by Home Depot’s cursed animatronic replica of an apparently strung-out Buddy the Elf, is a testament to its greatness.
Elf is a very New York-centric Christmas story: Buddy’s dad works in the Empire State Building, Buddy and Jovie go ice skating at Rockefeller Center and Buddy seemingly gives concussions to several children with snowballs in Central Park.
But not all of the movie was filmed in Manhattan, or even the United States for that matter. A lot of Elf was shot in Vancouver. Even the “World’s Best Cup of Coffee” diner was really a Canadian seafood restaurant, which was shut down in 2009 following “allegations of drug trafficking by the proprietors.”
Odder still, a not insignificant...

[This story contains spoilers from the first season of Prime Video’s Cruel Intentions.]
If you were a young adult in the late ‘90s, you almost certainly knew Sean Patrick Thomas.
Before he was Jimmy James in the Barbershop franchise, spent four seasons as Detective Temple Page in CBS police drama The District or, more recently, portrayed Gene Mobley, partner of Mamie Till and father-figure to Emmett in Till, the sharp-jawed, warm-eyed actor had carved out his own corner of YA drama success.
During that time, he would star in films like Save the Last Dance and Halloween: Resurrection, roles that would follow his memorable turn as Ronald Clifford in Roger Kumble’s Cruel Intentions. Thomas took on the role of the music tutor to the rich, naive and virginal Cecile Caldwell (Selma Blair), with whom he falls in love with before their relationship is sabotaged by the ruthless, scheming step-sibling duo of Kathryn Merteuil (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe...

When a film is successful enough, a sequel is made. If that does well, it could lead to a trilogy, spin-offs, and suddenly a franchise is born. The problems that then often arise are that these films are rarely written or directed by the same person, the original actors are not always available, and certain storylines might end up being received differently than initially anticipated.
As this happens, some plot points might get pushed to the side or dropped completely. Characters who are fan favorites might meet their grizzly end in one movie, only to be brought back due to popular demand. There are also remakes that may or may not do well, and may or may not need to somehow be inserted back into the original timeline. This all results in a lot of confusion among viewers about some of the longest-running Hollywood franchises.

The idea of a decades-spanning serial killer is one of the most iconic tropes in the horror genre, with Halloween's Michael Myers proving to be the most notable. With his feature directorial debut in He Never Left, writer/director James Morris looks to bring a fresh twist to the slasher subgenre by creating a new menacing serial killer, and though the movie's final act somewhat stumbles through its attempt at a big twist, it proves to be a refreshing approach to the formula.
He Never Left follows Colin Cunningham's Gabriel, an ex-convict on the run after an incident at his first job out of prison results in the death of his young boss. Holing up at a small-town motel with the help of his girlfriend Carly, also an ex-con and recovering addict working to get custody of her child back, Gabriel hears what sounds like a murder in the room next door.

Halloweens villain Michael Myers has become a cinematic icon and a favorite among horror fans, and while many are aware that Michael Myers was originally named The Shape, they might not know why. The Halloween franchise has seen many ups and downs with multiple retcons, remakes, and reboots of the series. Though not all Halloween films have been successful, they have certainly helped maintain the popularity and reputation of Michael Myers, who is now part of pop culture, being referred to and parodied on multiple occasions in different films and TV shows from all genres.
Michael Myers is credited as "The Shape in the original Halloween before being officially credited as "Michael Myers" in the sequels, only for the most recent Halloween trilogy, including Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, to return to crediting him as The Shape. For a lot of horror fans, October is their favorite month of the year, giving us 31 full days to watch even more horror movies than we do throughout the rest of the year, including films that are set on the holiday that ends the month: Halloween. Of course, the Halloween-set horror movies that get the most views are the slasher movies that share their name with the holiday. So with fresh viewings of every Halloween movie taken in, we have assembled a list: Halloween Movies Ranked, from worst to best. Check it out:

A new episode of the Awfully Good Horror Movies video series has just been released, and since this is the week of Halloween, we decided to take a look back at one of the least popular entries in the Halloween franchise, 2002’s Halloween: Resurrection (watch it Here), a movie that took the mostly-clean slate it was handed by the previous film, Halloween H20 (which disregarded the events of all but the first two Halloween movies), fumbled it, and let it shatter on the ground. You can hear all about it by checking out the video embedded above.
Directed by Rick Rosenthal from a screenplay by Larry Brand and Sean Hood, Halloween: Resurrection has the following synopsis: The original house of horrors, the dilapidated home of infamous serial killer Michael Myers, has now become the set of a webcam reality show. What is the legacy of David Gordon Green's "Halloween" reboot trilogy? When the first film, "Halloween," arrived in 2018, fans and even critics were impressed — a dormant franchise was alive again! But then Green would go on to make two more movies, both of which were met with a much more lukewarm reception. The sequel "Halloween Kills" had plenty of gore, but it was also a bit of a mess and not nearly as praised as the 2018 movie. Then came "Halloween Ends." Marketed as the definitive conclusion to the story of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode, "Halloween Ends" was drubbed by both critics and loyal fans. As a result, the general consensus surrounding Green's trilogy these days seems to be negative. But what if I told you that "Halloween Ends" is ... good, actually? In fact, it might even be great. And you don't have to take my word for it! Stephen King,...

Halloween: Resurrection in 2002 seemed to close the door on the original film’s run. It had run out of gas and failed both critically, with a 10% score on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as commercially, with it only bringing in 37 million on its 15-million-dollar budget. The next year would see Freddy and Jason clash with each other and Leatherface get the remake treatment from studio Platinum Dunes. While Freddy and Jason would get their own remakes in 2009 and 2010 respectively, you know you can’t keep a good masked villain down for long. So, before his two main slasher rivals got their day in the sun, Michael Myers would receive his own remake that came out in 2007. With a drastically different take and a new producer behind the wheel, Halloween would get a chance to do something drastically different than anything we had seen before. Everyone will be entitled to one good...

The Halloween franchise has been terrifying audiences since Michael Myers’ masked menace was brought to the big screen in John Carpenter’s 1978 classic. Four decades, 13 films, and a laundry list of rehashings, reboots, and remakes later, the franchise has become a slasher staple.

In the spirit of Spooktober – here’s a definitive ranking of all thirteen Halloween movies — from grisly goofs to the horrifying. Let’s slice through the clutter and get to the bloody best.
13. Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
Yeah, this is the lowest point without contention. Halloween: Resurrection sees Michael Myers in a reality TV setting, featuring Busta Rhymes’ kung-fu moves. This installment, directed by Rick Rosenthal (also responsible for Halloween II), attempts a “reality-tv-gone-wrong” trope that falls short on both scares and coherence. Even fans who appreciate so-bad-it’s-good films will not find something worthy of their time.

The “Halloween” movie series has had quite a journey, spanning over four decades and presenting multiple timelines that can leave even the most devoted fans scratching their heads. With the release of each film, Michael Myers has become a horror icon, and Jamie Lee Curtis’ portrayal of Laurie Strode has cemented her as a symbol of survival and strength. Whether you’re new to the series or a long-time fan, knowing the correct order to watch them is essential to fully appreciate the intricate (and sometimes confusing) narrative threads. Evil Dead & Halloween Crossover Art Sees Ash Williams vs. Michael Myers With Their Signature Weapons

Evil Dead and Halloween crossover art sees Ash Williams face off against Michael Myers, the duo wielding their signature weapons as they stare each other down. Despite both being part of the horror genre, the two franchises are very different from each other. The Halloween movies are slasher films, which show Michael taking out victims in gory and terrifying ways throughout. In the meantime, the Evil Dead films focus more on both body horror with the existence of Deadites, and comedy in entries like Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness.
Now, Malcolm Semmens has posted crossover art that sees Evil Dead's Ash and Halloween's Michael Myers facing off with their signature weapons. The image shows Ash glaring up at Michael, determined, holding up his chainsaw, while the slasher villain looks down at him, a knife poised to stab downward. When John Carpenter made the original “Halloween” in 1978, it was just another horror movie in a long line of horror movies. But the blockbuster success of this low-budget movie, about a masked killer murdering babysitters, made “Halloween” a cultural institution. The film spawned legions of imitators and codified the slasher genre as we still know it. And yet the official “Halloween” franchise has often struggled to meet the standard of the movie that inspired the craze. Let’s look back at all of these classic (and not so classic) horror movies, and see how they stack up.

Halloween H2O introduced a new family member for the franchise's hero and Final Girl, but what happened to Laurie Strode's son, John? Halloween follows the story of Michael Myers, who, after killing his sister when he was six years old, was sent to Smith's Grove Sanitarium. Fifteen years later, Michael escaped and returned to Haddonfield, Illinois, where he began stalking Laurie. As the franchise evolved, Laurie had a daughter, Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris), introduced in 1988's Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. After Laurie's death, Jamie becomes the new protagonist, but her timeline ends up retconned.
The first Halloween retcon happened in 1998 with Halloween H20: 20 Years Later. The new Halloween timeline brings Laurie back and leaves Jamie Lloyd aside. Halloween H20 ignored all the movies after Halloween 2. Laurie and Michael are still siblings, and it's explained that Laurie faked her death so she could hide from Michael and live a normal life,...

The trailer for Kung Fu Games boasts that it’s from one of the executive producers of Halloween: Resurrection. For those who don’t remember, that’s the one where Michael Myers gets beaten up by rapper Busta Rhymes. The fact that they thought a connection to that film was something to boast about should have been all the warning I needed.
Instead, I found myself watching a group of confused people wake up in what looks like a subway car as lights flash and sirens sound. A door opens, and they run out into what looks like a fog enshrouded bamboo forest, where one of them gets impaled with a spear and the rest get attacked by fighters who rappel down from the clouds.

Anthony Perkins' role as Norman Bates in Psycho set the standard for the slasher genre, with a shocking split personality twist. Anthony Hopkins' unmatched performance as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs won him an Academy Award in just 24 minutes on screen. Mads Mikkelsen's portrayal of Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the TV series Hannibal leaned more towards seductive, charming, and manipulative aspects.

Although Mark Duplass' initial comments about Creep 3 raised doubts surrounding the film franchise's future, Creep 2 is finally getting a follow-up show titled The Creep Tales. Since horror movie follow-ups do not always live up to the standards set by their predecessors, I always find myself questioning whether a critically successful horror flick has enough scope for franchise expansion. While some horror follow-ups like James Cameron's Aliens and Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's The Endless have perfectly expanded their original film's stories, others like Hellraiser: Revelations and Halloween: Resurrection have only worsened my concerns surrounding sequels.

To the uninitiated, the "Halloween" franchise is just a slasher series. If you've seen one, you've seen them all. A masked maniac with a big knife wandering around different settings, cutting down anyone unfortunate enough to get in their way. Sure, while that might be true for John Carpenter's classic original, the series would grow increasingly odd and incredulous as the years went on.
As of this writing, there are four different "Halloween" timelines featuring Michael Myers. It starts with the original timeline, including the orignal "Halloween" from 1978, its sequel "Halloween II," the legacy sequel "Halloween H20," and "Halloween: Resurrection." Then, of course, is the colloquial Cult of Thorn timeline, which also includes those first two movies, followed by then "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers," "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers," and "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.

Almost four years after Marc Helwig joined Miramax as Head Of Worldwide Television, he walked the London red carpet Tuesday for the global premiere of the company’s Guy Ritchie series for Netflix, The Gentlemen, alongside celebrity guests like David Beckham and Jason Statham.
The Gentlemen is a “pandemic series.” In 2020, after he took over Miramax TV, Ritchie’s The Gentlemen movie was on Helwig’s mind, literally. A billboard for the Miramax film had been put up on his street corner in late 2019 and stayed there until 2022, with Helwig passing by it daily.
“It started in the very early days of the pandemic when I first joined Miramax and found myself on these Zooms with Guy Ritchie and his producing partner Ivan Atkinson,” he said about the show’s origins. “The film had turned into a little bit of a cult success after its release; the movie was one...

The Fear Street trilogy breaks free from harmful LGBTQ+ tropes seen in the horror genre, allowing Deena and Sam's queer relationship to have a happy ending. Fear Street 4 should respect the subversive and satisfying ending of the trilogy by not undoing Deena and Sam's story, as it would undermine the original movies. If Deena and Sam are not the main leads in Fear Street 4, a new protagonist could be introduced in a modern-day setting while still incorporating Deena and Sam through flashbacks or as mentor characters.
With Fear Street 4 confirmed to be in the works, it’s essential that one element from the original trilogy is honored: its ending. The Fear Street trilogy, based on R.L. Who doesn’t love a good side character?
Side characters – or secondary characters – are usually those funny guys and gals who hang around our leads and give us moments of levity and brevity as the movie unravels.
More often than not, as the credits roll on these films, we sometimes end up loving the secondary characters more than the primary characters, as they’re many times the most memorable things from not-so-memorable movies. Even still, in horror, particularly slasher films, side characters are crucially instrumental components of rounding out these movies where the kills and death sequences take more of an immediate focus than the story itself.
Admittedly, remarkable secondary characters for the Halloween franchise may not be as apparent as other big slasher series. More often than not, the most revered and cherished characters are our favorite final ladies, Laurie and Jamie Strode, the caring Doctor Sam Loomis, or the malevolent Shape itself,...

Perhaps the most intensely discussed horror reboot of the 21st century is David Gordon Green's "Halloween." With a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and a 72% audience score, it seems like most of the intended crowd for the slasher legacyquel walked away satisfied, so Universal Pictures quickly put two more sequels on its calendar. Unfortunately, "Halloween Kills" was a drastic step down, earning only a 39% critics score. Sure, the audience score only dropped a bit to 66%, but when you're dedicated to the franchise, you're bound to be fairly pleased with whatever you get. "Halloween Ends" didn't fare much better, with just a 40% from critics, and a steeper drop to 57% from fans, officially taking it into rotten territory on both counts.
It's that last movie that has sparked some debate among longtime "Halloween" fans, with some appreciating the bold new direction that Green takes the franchise by making new character Corey Cunningham...

Do you believe in the boogeyman? If you’ve ever watched one of the good Halloween movies, the answer is an unqualified yes! The boogeyman is real and he has a name and a shape: Michael Myers. And for the last 45 years, he’s been cutting a bloody path of carnage across multiplexes everywhere.
It began innocently enough in the hands of director John Carpenter, a then young filmmaker not long out of film school who, along with producer and co-writer Debra Hill, plus some friends, wanted to make a genuinely spooky horror movie that borrowed heavily from chillers like Psycho or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Only this time, they brought that kind of terror home to the suburbs. If you watch their first fully formed slasher movie today, you might even be surprised by how little slashing there is. When I saw John Carpenter perform at NYC's Terminal 5 in November of 2017, he introduced his band's version of the "Halloween" theme with a curiously cryptic message. Before dropping the theme's iconic piano-led 5/4 beat, Carpenter simply said to the sold-out crowd: "Remember ... love never dies."
The application of that phrase to "Halloween" holds just as much ambiguity and eerie mystery as Carpenter's immortal 1978 classic does. Throughout that film, Carpenter and his co-writer and producer, Debra Hill, introduce numerous subtexts when it comes to the unknowable origin, motivations, and inner thoughts of "The Shape" aka Michael Myers; not only are there hints toward some psychosexual hang-ups he may have, but the character is deliberately played by multiple actors.
About 10 years prior to that concert, Dimension Films released writer and director Rob Zombie's remake of Carpenter's film, "Halloween." It was met with an almost overwhelming amount of revulsion, as seen in its...

Unimaginative horror movie sequels can kill the goodwill of even the most popular franchises, with rushed plots and lackluster additions. Weak character development, excessive gore, and a reliance on overused tropes can diminish the impact of a horror movie sequel. Straying too far from the essence of the franchise and failing to recapture the essence of the original can leave viewers unsatisfied with a sequel.
The most popular horror franchises master the art of amassing devoted followings and raking in financial gains, but even the biggest horror franchises have a few sequel duds. Horror franchises usually manage to craft follow-ups that are just as enthralling as their predecessors, and there are clearly sequels that stand as the best in horror movie franchises. However, amidst those shining gems, there's always a chapter in the saga that stands out as the weakest link. This underscores the delicate balance between maintaining a profitable...

In John Carpenter's 1978 film "Halloween," the masked killer Michael Myers was played by multiple actors. For the bulk of his scenes, Michael — called "The Shape" — was played by Nick Castle, a film school friend of Carpenter's and a director in his own right. Castle also directed "The Last Starfighter" and "The Boy Who Could Fly." As a small boy, Michael Myers was played, in one scene, by an actor named Will Sandin in his first and last role on screen. In Pov shots, the hands of young Michael were provided by co-writer and producer Debra Hill, while the unmasked Michael — who appears only briefly at the very end of the movie — was played by Tony Moran.
Castle had the lion's share of screen time, however, and is generally thought of as the "official" Michael Myers by "Halloween" fans the world over. Castle would reprise the role for David Gordon Green...

The Halloween franchise is a multiverse of madness. The third film, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, has always stood off to the side by itself. The seventh, Halloween H20, came along and ignored the events of all of the previous sequels except Halloween II. The follow-up to that film, Halloween: Resurrection, was so poorly received that the entire original timeline was abandoned so Rob Zombie would direct a Halloween remake. And after the sequel to the remake, we got a trilogy of sequels to the original film. But before the decision was made to move forward with a remake, a sequel to Halloween: Resurrection was in development – and one idea for a sequel would have featured the return of Josh Harnett’s character John Tate from H20, Busta Rhymes’ character Freddie Harris from Resurrection, and Charles Cyphers’ Leigh Brackett from the first two movies. This one would have been titled Halloween: Retribution…...

It’s October, and that means horror movie marathons galore. But one of the most common horror movie franchises to binge this time of year is, fittingly, the “Halloween” movies. There are 13 “Halloween” movies (and counting), as the series that began with John Carpenter’s 1978 classic has continued through various ups, downs and reboots. There are no less than five separate timelines for the events that occur in the “Halloween” series, which makes watching the ”Halloween” movies in order a tricky task.
But not to worry, we’re here to help guide you. Below, we’ve put together a guide to how to watch the “Halloween” movies in chronological order through the various different timelines. There’s the Og series, the Rob Zombie remakes and the most recent series of “Halloween” movies that see Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role as Laurie Strode in yet another new timeline of events.

The original 1978 Halloween set the blueprint for the slasher genre and influenced films like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Halloween: Resurrection is widely considered one of the worst films in the franchise due to its terrible script, uninteresting characters, and lack of suspense. Halloween 2018 revitalized the franchise by focusing on Laurie and making Michael Myers scary again, pleasing both fans and newcomers.
Here's a ranking of every film in the Halloween franchise ranked from worst to best. The Halloween series turned 45 in 2023, an impressive feat considering creator John Carpenter never wanted a sequel. John Carpenter's 1978 horror film "Halloween" was famously inspired by 1960s serial killer films like Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" and Powell/Pressburger's "Peeping Tom," only filtered through a low-budget, '70s grindhouse lens. Initially, "Halloween" was dismissed by audiences, but legend has it that Roger Ebert's overwhelmingly positive 1979 review saved it from obscurity. This may seem like an odd piece of trivia, given that Ebert infamously hated the slasher genre that "Halloween" helped spawn.
For the uninitiated, the original "Halloween" was about an empty-eyed young child, Michael Myers, who killed his big sister in cold blood on Halloween night in 1963. For fifteen years, Michael was kept in an insane asylum where he never spoke a word and stared blankly at a wall. Michael breaks out of the hospital in 1978, travels back to his old neighborhood, dons a creepy white-face mask, and begins stalking and murdering babysitters on Halloween night.

Some viewers find that Halloween H20 is a better reboot than Halloween 2018, as it allowed Laurie to move on from her past and adopt a new identity. The twist in The Cabin in the Woods, where monsters are manipulated by technicians, was seen as nonsensical and not scary by many viewers. Some viewers consider The Evil Dead remake to be the worst movie in the series as it lacked the essence and fun of the original.
Horror movies can be quite divisive, but even in the horror genre, there are some controversial opinions about iconic movies. The rights to the Halloween franchise are up for sale, sparking a competitive bidding war among studios and streaming platforms. The slasher franchise has a long history, with multiple sequels and reboots over the years, including a recent trilogy that concluded in 2022. Miramax is currently seeking buyers for the Halloween franchise, with the option to adapt it into either a movie or a television series.
The rights to the Halloween franchise are reportedly back on the market. There are several lines of continuity in the slasher franchise, which introduced iconic killer Michael Myers in John Carpenter's original 1978 movie. Seven sequels within various continuities were released though 2002's Halloween: Resurrection, which was then followed by Rob Zombie's 2007 remake and its sequel. Most recently, director and co-writer David Gordon Green teamed with Blumhouse for a trilogy of movies between 2018 and 2022 that ostensibly closed the chapter of the franchise that followed...

None of the 13 Halloween movies hold the box office record for Halloween weekend. Saw 3D currently holds the top spot with over $24 million domestic opening. Halloween II is in the ninth spot for highest opening earners during Halloween weekends, making just over $7 million on its opening weekend. The Halloween movies don't traditionally release close to Halloween because earlier releases allow for a longer period for audiences to see the movies and embrace the spooky holiday season.
Oddly enough, none of the Halloween movies hold a major box office record surrounding Halloween weekend. To date, there are 13 Halloween movies in the film franchise. Movie franchises often lie about ending to capitalize on their popularity and make more money at the box office, resulting in sequels or reboots. While most franchise resurrections are criticized, some rare gems are successful.
Movie franchises that lied to viewers about ending did so for a number of different reasons. More often than not, this is a case of directors, actors, or studios banking on the popularity of franchises to make more at the box office. Though this doesn't always go well, some resurrected franchises have been commercially and sometimes even critically successful, resulting in sequels, prequels, or franchise reboots. Financial reasons aside, filmmakers may also bring supposedly concluded franchises back to life with the goal of giving them proper endings, or simply to just continue the story with chapters yet untold. While traditionally associated with horror, false last chapters exist in every genre.
Indeed, every movie franchise ending...

Sunday night’s 2023 BET Awards gave one of the greatest his flowers.
During “culture’s biggest night,” Busta Rhymes was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award — presented by Marlon Wayans and Swizz Beatz — where he shared an inspirational message in his acceptance speech, and got emotional while reflecting on the award.
Speaking with Et’s Kevin Frazier after the show at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, Rhymes explained what, exactly, brought him to tears during his speech.
“I was thinking about everyone that I acknowledged. I was thinking about the ones I couldn’t get to because I ain’t have enough time,” Rhymes explained. “[And] I’m looking at my kids for the first time all together at such a prestigious moment in my life.”
Several of the artist’s six kids were in the audience on Sunday, and Rhymes admitted that it was their love and support that really moved him.

A few weeks ago, we heard that The CW had cancelled the Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters after just one season – which wasn’t a major surprise, since The CW is under new management that is looking to wipe the slate clean for the most part. But being cancelled by The CW didn’t necessarily have to mean that The Winchesters was dead, because the show’s producers at Warner Bros. Television had the chance to find a new home for it on another network or at a streaming service. Unfortunately, Deadline reports that no one was interested in picking up The Winchesters, so the show is now officially over.
The Winchesters came from Warner Bros Television and CBS Studios. Glen Winter (Supergirl) directed and executive produced the pilot episode. This show was executive produced by Supernatural star Jensen Ackles and his wife Danneel through their company Chaos Machine Productions.

The Halloween franchise has gone through different retcons, and not all of them have been beneficial to Michael Myers’ story and the saga in general, but Halloween Kills stands as one of the biggest failures in the franchise, and here’s what went wrong with it. After the underperformance of Halloween: Resurrection in 2002 and the not-so-successful remakes by Rob Zombie in 2007 and 2009, the Halloween franchise was brought back to life in 2018 with a new trilogy and brand-new timeline, serving as a direct continuation of John Carpenter’s original 1978 movie and thus ignoring all sequels that came after it.
Directed by David Gordon Green, Halloween (2018) reunited viewers with Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Michael Myers, as the latter escaped from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and returned to Haddonfield four decades after his first encounter with Laurie. A couple months ago, Robbie Thompson – showrunner of the Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters – expressed uncertainty as to whether or not his show was going to get a second season now that The CW is being retooled. Now it’s official: The CW has cancelled The Winchesters after just one season.
Kung Fu has also been cancelled after three seasons. The CW provided the following statement to Variety: “As we reimagine the new CW, we had to make some tough programming decisions. We thank our partners at Warner Bros. and the casts and creative teams of Kung Fu and The Winchesters for all their hard work, creativity and dedication.“
The Winchesters‘ chance of continuing appeared to drop in a major way once Mark Pedowitz left as head of the network. Supernatural was already in its sixth season when Pedowitz joined The CW, but he was an established fan who had seen every episode to date.
