Lt. Hobbes is sent by the military into their virtual reality world of "Harsh Realm" to assassinate rogue-soldier-turned-game's-dictator Omar Santiago, but Hobbes' rogue predecessor, Mike Pinocchio, warns Hobbes that the game is a trap.
Lt. Hobbes, a young idealistic Marine who's about to get married, is sent on a top secret mission to "Harsh Realm", a virtual reality world identical to his own created by the military to run war game scenarios, to assassinate the renegade soldier Omar Santiago, who has taken control over the game from within and created his own military dictatorship there. In the game, Hobbes meets people like Mike Pinocchio, a cynical, hardboiled, rogue soldier, and his mute female comrade as well as the virtual simulation of his own real life fiancee, and quickly learns that almost everything the military had told him was a lie. Meanwhile, Hobbes real life fiancee investigates his disappearance.Written by
I was dismayed and confused by the fact that Fox canceled the series after the 3rd (yes, THIRD) episode.... But, I've told my wife several times that the only show I ever liked that ran more than three seasons was X-files. Unbelievable that people will watch an "Animal Psychic" and keep her on the air for two years (and still counting), but a great show like Harsh Realm dies such a premature death. Even the repeats on FX were in a dead time slot, and the so-called "Series finale" didn't wrap up anything... It just ended. It was pretty obvious to me that Fox pulled the plug VERY rapidly on this show. I'm also surprised that no other network picked it up and continued it...
