Goofy Canadian screwup Bob Tree goes trough the yellow pages alphabetically to pick jobs, applies and messes them up every time. In the B's, he arrived at butler and takes a wacky crash-course with the somewhat odd Mr. Butler. Bob gets hired, but really more as babysitter cum housekeeper for Jacques, his fuzzy lover Anne Jamieson and, most of all, her spoiled-rotten kids Bates and Tess, terrible handfuls which his unorthodox methods may at least take by surprise.Written by
In the film, Bob (Tom Green) is interviewed by Ann (Brooke Shields) for the job. She asked him if "Bob" is shorten from "Robert" and he responded by asking her isn't "Rob" shorten for "Robert"? - The real name of the actor who plays "Jacques" is "Rob" (Rob LaBelle) who later entered in that scene. For only one time, Tom Green doesn't make an utter and complete jackass out of himself. This film is actually a nice family flick and I was surprised that it lacks any elements of the typical Tom Green routine.
While not terribly inventive (or, more exactly, predictable to boot) it's watchable. A guy, getting kicked out of each and every job, becomes a butler for a lonely mom with two kids, typical family movie cliché ensues. The guy himself isn't even a bit disgusting - maybe naive and a little lost, but nice and kind nonetheless. Who would suspect that Tom Green can actually be nice and act?
Good for a family afternoon with your kids.
