"Farouk U" Barely Makes the Grade
18 September 2013 | by See all my reviews

COED DORM is the DVD version of 1971's FAROUK U (aka FAROUK UNIVERSITY), which played venues such as the Pussycat Theatre just prior to the hardcore theatrical film revolution a few years later. The "brilliant institution" King Farouk University ("Farouk U") is a hotbed of sexual experimentation, and students are "free to do their thing, the American way," meaning lots of sex and nudity. The school features a bizarre curriculum catering to perverts and nudists, led by the "world famous gynecologist" Dr. Maurice de Sade. This wacky softcore flick features Uschi Digard and Ray ("Undertaker and His Pals") Dannis, the latter in an embarrassing toupee and strange sideburns. Director Tom Alderman followed this up with the horror Z-movie, THE SEVERED ARM. The toss everything in but the kitchen sink approach includes jarring Hollywood- style musical / singing interludes.
