Trivia

Episode 11 (Toys in the Attic) contains many references to the movie Aliens (1986). Among them are: the hand-held tracker equipment, the computer's voice, and the dramatized arming scene and the manner in which the creature is disposed of. See more »

Quotes

Jet Black: When you and I first met, you told me something. You said that you had died once, that you had seen death. Why can't you just let it go? Forget the past.
Spike Spiegel: There was a woman, first time I'd found someone who was truly alive. At least, that's what I thought. She was... the part of me I'd lost somewhere along the way, the part that was missing, that I'd been longing for.

Crazy Credits

The first episode begins with a montage of images from Spike's past, followed by the opening title sequence. All the other episodes (except the final one) begin with the opening title sequence. See more »

Alternate Versions

On Session 12: Jupiter Jazz, Part One (and in the recap scenes on Part 2): The infamous shower scene where Faye finds out that Gren has the breasts of a woman, yet he's still a man was edited to conceal Gren's breasts and any hint of it (i.e., his cleavage) using cropping and shots of Gren's face. Also: a second-long shot of Gren's butt crack during the pan up his back was cut. See more »

A Story Worth Watching
7 January 2003 | by suffer-smart-magnetSee all my reviews

CB is a happy blend of story, action, and characters.

Set in the future, CB takes its name from the spaceship, around which the story loosely revolves. The main characters, Spike and Jet, try to make their living while not getting killed, traveling around looking for bounties.

Technically, the animation is very good, though a friend pointed out that sometimes the frame rate is low, or they use a still in a shot. These didn't bother me because they were used tastefully, and were balanced by action shots that carried a lot of energy.

The voice acting for the english version is great, and adds to character depth. They seem to understand who the characters are and how they would react.

The story line is interesting. With each episode being around 25 minutes, the time is filled with a balanced blend of action, character development, and plot. The story within an episode develops rapidly, while the whole series moves more slowly, with the exception of the last few episodes (where they were trying to wrap things up).

If you've never tried any anime, this would be my first choice. I watched it on DVD, and would definitely watch it again.
