Das Clown (1999)

The tale of an old man and the clown doll he brings to life. Told like an old-fashioned educational slide show.

Mr. Higgins runs an antique store in middle America. He is lonely and wishes that Sparkles, a clown doll that came from Germany at the end of World War II, would come to life and play with him. On the night before Memorial Day weekend, while Mr. Higgins is working late, a wind comes through the store and a book, written in a strange language, appears next to the clown. Mr. Higgins sits down to read the pages aloud where the wind has opened the book. It's an incantation, and Sparkles comes to life. The next morning, sheriff's deputy Harlen stops by to say howdy and finds a bloody scene. He draws his gun and calls the paramedics. What has been going on? Is there any hope? I Love this Short
26 August 2005 | by tscogradySee all my reviews

OMG This is one of the funniest short movies EVER. I first saw it on IFC's Short Film Colllection a few years back, and I fell in love with it. My sister and I even taped it and we still say quotes from Das Clown like "Then A gust of wind.......". It hasn't been on recently so if anyone knows when it's going to be on leave a message on this website. Anyway It's about a toy maker who has an evil clown doll who kills him, and the policeman, but there's a big surprise at the end ( you're going to be spending the entire 8 minutes wondering. LOL. Every time I think of this movie I laugh inside so yeah it's funny, and ridiculous, and AMAZING AT LIFE.
