Jason Steinberg Named Head of Post Production for Universal Television Alternative

Universal Television Alternative Studio has named Jason Steinberg as its new head of post production.

In the role, Steinberg will oversee post-production on all of the studio’s current and upcoming projects. He will report to Meredith Ahr, president of Universal Television Alternative.

“Everyone in the business is constantly vying for Jason’s expert editorial eye and to have him in house is a huge coup for us,” Ahr said in a statement. “He has emerged as a leader in his field and his invaluable experience will be a boon to our studio as we continue to grow and push ourselves to produce new and innovative formats and content.”

Comcast to Launch Epix Nationwide on Xfinity TV in June

MGM’s Epix premium network will be available to Comcast’s Xfinity TV customers across the U.S. — for the first time — starting on June 13.

Epix’s launch on Comcast comes after after the programmer finally secured a distribution pact with the cable giant last fall, eight years after Epix’s initial 2009 launch. With the addition of Comcast, Epix will be available to around 70 million homes across traditional pay-tv and over-the-top distributors. The expanded Epix footprint includes 18 of the 20 biggest U.S. markets.

Epix, which competes with HBO, Showtime and Starz, offers original series and over 2,000 feature films. The Epix lineup includes “Fences,

Scott Eastwood and Orlando Bloom head to war in The Outpost

THR is reporting that Scott Eastwood, Orlando Bloom, Caleb Landry Jones and Cory Hardrict have signed on to star in The Outpost, an Afghan war film from director Rod Lurie (The Contender) and Millennium Media.

Based on the book by Jake Tapper and scripted by Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson (The Fighter), The Outpost tells the true story of 53 U.S. soldiers who found themselves battling 400 enemy insurgents in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. Eastwood will play Staff Sergeant Clint Romesha, with Bloom as 1st Lieutenant Benjamin D. Keating, Jones as Specialist Ty Michael Carter and Hardrict as Sgt. Vernon Martin.

“Telling the stories of the men and women who served at Combat Outpost Keating, and those who love them, was the honor of a lifetime,” said Tapper. “I am so pleased that Rod Lurie and Millennium will bring the tales of their selflessness and valor to an even wider audience.
