Trivia

The first line of dialogue in 'Woodentop', "Right then Carver, let's do it." is spoken by Jim Carver when he wakes up on his first morning as a PC. He uses the same line in 'The Bill' on the morning of his wedding to June Ackland, and again as he is walking away from June in his last episode. See more »

a rather dated but good introduction to Jim Carver and the Bill

The method of production is dated and not as refined as the series is now. Considering this pilot one wonders why the series took off at all.
