again, this is one of the short films made by George Kuchar, but where his other movies are about (hidden) homosexuality and the way the world deals with this, 'Pagan Rhapsody' is more about the loss of identification in these times (even though the short film was made almost 40 years ago, the message stays alive). but, and this is my interpretation of the movie that consists of scenes that have (almost) nothing to do with each other, by the loss of our identification, we stop being ourselves, and by doing so, we are on the same level as the known theme of Kuchar: hidden homosexuality. once you understand this, you can see lots of references of being proud to be gay: the statues, the piano player, the locks, the milk, the woman in leather, the recognizable fear of nothing in peculiar, the men kissing each other, the refusal of sex, the homages to Anger and Meyer, the music, the strange disco, the drugs, ... it's all quite simple if you understand it, but the meaning of the title is too much for me.
