Bernard Judd, a young prospector, strikes gold among the Colorado foothills. He stakes out his mine and draws a map of it. This he sends to his sweetheart, Sara Severner, who lives in New York City. At the same time he writes her that he will join her inside of a week. His partner, Luer, whose lust for gold has made him treacherous, learns of Judd's plans, and decides to double-cross him. He intercepts Judd's letter and rushes to New York, where he persuades Sara to accompany him back to Colorado, by telling her that Judd is dangerously ill. They pass Judd on the way west. Judd, arriving in New York, and hearing of his partner's dastardly trick, returns at once to Colorado. Luer, knowing that Sara has the mine map on her person, waits until they arrive at Judd's camp before he tells of his intentions in bringing her there. She manages to break away from him and take refuge in the gorge nearby. Judd arrives upon the scene just in time to save his mine and settle matters with Luer.
