Young Carol From Orange Is the New Black Looks Much Different in Her Other TV Role

  • Popsugar

Any fan of Orange Is the New Black knows that most of the inmates have troubling backgrounds that landed them behind bars, but few character backstories have been as disturbing as waitresses-turned-prison rivals Barbara and Carol Denning.

The sisters, older in present day, are in prison for an unspeakable crime they committed when they were teenagers, and while much of the season shows how the manipulative sisters relate to the characters we know and love, the flashback sequences of the younger Dennings are some of the most buzzed-about moments of the season.

Taking on the role of young sociopath Carol Denning is Ashley Jordyn, a newcomer who has been in a number of short films and even wrote and produced her own called The Session, which won first prize at the Montreal World Film Festival.

‘Killing Eve”s Best Drama Series snub won’t doom Sandra Oh’s Emmy chances

‘Killing Eve”s Best Drama Series snub won’t doom Sandra Oh’s Emmy chances
Killing Eve” didn’t exactly slay the Emmy nominations, nabbing just two, but they’re pretty big ones: Best Drama Actress for Sandra Oh and Best Drama Writing for Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The BBC America series, which is based on Luke Jennings‘ “Villanelle” novels, was surging as of late, but ultimately missed out on a Best Drama Series nomination. While a series nomination would’ve obviously been great, the snub doesn’t mean Oh — the show’s best shot at a win — is dead in the water.

Since 1990, 13 women have won Best Drama Actress without their show being nominated for Best Drama Series the same year, including three of the last four years. They are:

1992: Dana Delany, “China Beach

1994: Sela Ward, “Sisters

1995: Kathy Baker, “Picket Fences

1996: Kathy Baker, “Picket Fences

1998: Christine Lahti, “Chicago Hope

2000: Sela Ward, “Once and Again

2005: Patricia Arquette, “Medium

Edie Falco hopes to be 8th performer from ‘Law & Order’ franchise to win an Emmy: Can you name the other 7?
Just how much do the Emmys love Edie Falco? She’s currently the only actress to win lead trophies for a comedy series (“Nurse Jackie” in 2010) and a drama series, and now she hopes to add to her record with a victory for a limited series. On Thursday Falco received a Best Movie/Mini Actress Emmy nomination for her work on the limited series “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.” If she wins, that would make Falco the eighth performer from the “Law & Order” franchise to win an Emmy.

So who are the other seven? “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” star Mariska Hargitay is the only performer to prevail at the televised Primetime Emmys, winning Best Drama Actress in 2006. The other six winners all took home their trophies at the Creative Arts in the Best Drama Guest Actress category.

Supernatural Season 14 Will Be Shorter Than Most Previous Offerings

When I first tuned in for Supernatural‘s pilot episode back in 2005, I had no idea that what started out as a cool little horror show would capture the imaginations of millions of fans the world over. But, lo and behold, here we are anticipating a fourteenth season set to kickoff this fall. If this continues, Sam and Dean Winchester may one day give the likes of Gunsmoke, The Simpsons and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit a run for their money!

But before “the boys” get back to “saving people, hunting things, etc.,” there’s one very important detail we must discuss – and that’s season 14 being given a shorter episode order than usual. To be honest, there’s not much reason to fret, for 20 installments have been confirmed to air during the 2018-19 broadcast season.

Sure, this is slightly down from the 23 episodes we’ve come to expect
