A spoof of buddy cop movies where two very different cops are forced to team up on a new reality based television cop show, while tracking down the manufacturer and distributor of an illegally made semi-automatic firearm.
The story ultimately revolves around two "men of honor"; their relationship, their individual and joint failures and triumphs. Carl Brashear is determined to be the first African American Navy Diver in a time where racism is rife. Leslie Sunday is his embittered trainer, determined to see him fail. Fate, challenges and circumstances eventually draw these two men together in a tale of turbulence and ultimately triumph.Written by
It is mentioned several times that Billy Sunday swam out of the St. Lo when she sunk. The U.S.S. St. Lo was an escort carrier, and the first major U.S. Navy ship to be sunk by a kamikaze. It happened during the Battle off Samar, part of the larger Battle of Leyte Gulf. The St. Lo and several other escort carriers, along with a handful of destroyers and destroyer escorts, held off a larger, and more powerful, Japanese task force, whose mission was to shell the Allied invasion force preparing to re-take the Philippines. Everybody in the movie has embroidered name tapes on their uniform shirts and trousers. That wasn't fully implemented until 1999. During the period in which the movie is set, names would have been written in black India ink using a stencil. Sometimes it was scrawled in marker. See more »
You get in there and fight, Carl. Don't take promises. Bust their rules if you have to. And when it gets hard, and it will, don't quit on me, ever.

I loved this movie. It is a definite inspirational movie. It fills you with pride. This movie is worth the rental or worth buying. It should be in everyones home. Best movie I have seen in a long time. It will make you mad because everyone is so mean to Carl Brashear, but in the end it gets better. It is a story of romance, drama, action, and plenty of funny lines to keep you tuned in. I love a lot of the quotes. I use them all the time. They help keep me on task of what I want to do. It shows that anyone can achieve their dreams, all they have to do is work for it. It is a long movie, but every time I watch it, I never notice that it is as long as it is. I get so engrossed in it, that it goes so quick. I love this movie. I watch it whenever I can.
