Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Kid Masao is temporarily abducted by a pedophile who tells him to take off his underwear. Kikujiro then arrives and rescues the boy before any sexual violence happens but the scene is potentially very disturbing to young viewers and is the main reason the movie got a PG-13 rating, as the film features otherwise no sexuality (a man's bare rear is seen in a comedic, non-sexual situation) and very little violence (it's implied Kikujiro beats up the pedophile after rescuing the kid).
  • Masao found a home where his mother lived. But his mother lived with a new father and son. Masao sees his mother's new family and is sad.
