Ice Cube had rewrote his part as the character "Tyrone," with rapper Stickey Fingaz casted in the part. Per a 2019 interview with DJ Vlad, Johnson stated Cube did this to not pay Johnson the agreed upon salary for his involvement in Next Friday, as Stickey Fingaz was paid much lower than the agreed upon amount. Johnson said that Cube did not talk to him nor take his phone calls and barred him from the set while filming this sequel. Johnson said he has not talked to Ice Cube since 1999.
