Clifton Powell Wants to Do Friday 4 in Honor Pops and Deebo

Clifton Powell Wants to Do Friday 4 in Honor Pops and Deebo
Series star Clifton Powell wants Friday 4 to happen now more than ever as a way to pay homage to late franchise actors John Witherspoon and Tommy "Tiny" Lister. Last year, Witherspoon, who played Pops in all three movies, sadly passed away at the age of 77. Earlier this month, fans of the franchise lost another favorite when Lister died at 62. Among dozens of roles in other movies and TV shows, Lister was particularly well-known for playing Deebo in the first two Friday movies.

Clifton Powell, who played Pinky in the sequels Next Friday and Friday After Next, recently spoke with TMZ about the passings of his former co-stars. When asked if there's still a way to make Friday 4 without Pops and Deebo, Powell explained that this just fuels his desire to see another sequel getting produced in their honor.

"I think we do it in memory of those guys. People love the Friday series.

His manager, Cindy Cowan, confirmed the actor’s death to Variety. A cause of death was not immediately known, but Cowan told Variety that he was found unresponsive in his Los Angeles apartment “after displaying symptoms of Covid-19 in recent days.” Cowan said Lister had been diagnosed with Covid-19 earlier this year.

Tommy “Tiny” Lister, who appeared in “Friday” and “The Fifth Element” and was also a professional wrestler, died Thursday, his manager Cindy Cowan confirmed.

Cowan said he was found unresponsive in his apartment in Marina del Rey, Calif. after displaying symptoms of Covid-19 in recent days. He had been working on a film and had to cancel shooting after falling ill, Cowan said.

“He was a wonderful guy with a heart of gold. Everyone loved him. A real gentle giant,” she said, “We’re all devastated.”

Lister wrestled Hulk Hogan in the World Wrestling Federation after appearing as Zeus in 1989’s “No Holds Barred.” He later spent time in World Championship Wrestling, where he was billed as Z-Gangsta.

The actor, who was blind in his right eye, played the neighborhood bully Deebo in the 1995 “Friday” and appeared in the sequel “Next Friday.”

His other appearances include playing a prisoner in “The Dark Knight,

Tommy “Tiny” Lister, the professional wrestler-turned-actor perhaps best known for his turn as the bully Deebo in the “Friday” films, passed away on Thursday, his manager confirmed. He was 62.

According to TMZ, Lister was found unconscious in his Marina Del Rey home on Thursday afternoon. He was pronounced dead on the scene and there is no word as of yet as to the cause of death.

Lister — who stood 6 feet, 5 inches tall — started his career as a wrestler before moving on to films. His early roles included “Beverly Hills Cop II,” “No Holds Barred” and the HBO football series “1st & Ten.”

After his appearance in “No Holds Barred” — which starred Hulk Hogan — he transferred the Zeus character from the film over the wrestling ring. He wrestled against Hogan as part of a tag team match at SummerSlam in 1989, where he was pinned by Hogan. His final appearance in the WWF came later that year,

HBO Max Announces Over 150 New Movies/Shows For October

HBO Max Announces Over 150 New Movies/Shows For October
HBO Max is serving up a lot of great new movies this October. Fittingly for the spooky season, the Warner Bros. streaming service is adding a fair few classic horrors to its library next month, but there’s really something for everyone going up – from comedies to romances to sci-fi to superhero films.

Speaking of that last genre, DC lovers will be pleased to note that 2013’s Man of Steel, the movie that kicked off the Dceu, is among the titles arriving on October 1st. Besides that, there’s a bunch of animated DC pics dropping the same day, including Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and All-Star Superman. 2005’s Constantine featuring Keanu Reeves, meanwhile, also debuts on the service from the 1st.

That’s not the only film starring the beloved actor headed to the platform, though, as probably the highlight of October’s haul is the addition of the

Ice Cube Blames New Line for No Friday 4, Apologizes to John Witherspoon at Funeral

Ice Cube Blames New Line for No Friday 4, Apologizes to John Witherspoon at Funeral
Pointing the finger at Hollywood and New Line Cinema, Ice Cube apologized to John Witherspoon for failing to get Last Friday made before his passing. Previously, Ice Cube had announced his plans to make the fourth Friday movie, saying back in June that the sequel was coming and he had hopes to release it by 2020.

Speaking at John Witherspoon's celebration of life ceremony, Ice Cube offered his apologies to the late comedy legend, placing the blame on the folks at New Line Cinema. Here's what the Friday franchise star said about Last Friday.

"I really apologize to my friend for not getting the next Friday movie made. It's not my fault. Some dumbass people in Hollywood, at New Line Cinema."

Ice Cube goes on to clarify the status of Last Friday and how the planned sequel has apparently died in development hell, long before John Witherspoon passed away. According to Ice Cube,

‘The Disaster Artist’ Leads Specialty Box Office vs. ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’

A24’s “The Disaster Artist” and “Lady Bird” led the pack of specialized successes, again landing in the weekend’s Top 10 chart. Both had to hold off the usual pre-holiday dip as well as the massive draw across all audiences for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”

A total of eight recent limited releases expanded this weekend –all their theaters combined add up to about the same number of theaters as “The Last Jedi,” but it grossed 22 times as much as the $10-million total of those eight films combined.

To a large extent grosses this week are gravy on top of past totals and more importantly a build-up to the most lucrative time of the year for adult moviegoing. That starts in earnest on Christmas Day. More viable titles are competing than most years, and not all will be optimally available. But distributors hope to regain their momentum with the return

Doctor Who Cast Comes Together For New Christmas Special Photos

The wait until the Doctor Who Christmas special is about to get a little easier.

Next Friday will bring with it the first clip from the much-anticipated episode, titled “Twice Upon a Time,” as the sci-fi show joins in with the Children In Need charity campaign. Ahead of the celebrations next week, though, we now have these festive cast photos.

Taken in the Tardis, the images show Peter Capaldi, David Bradley and Pearl Mackie posing with Pudsey the bear, the Children in Need’s mascot. One pic even sees the trio together, grinning and donning Christmas hats. Well, Bradley and Mackie are wearing them. Presumably, the hat wouldn’t fit over Capaldi’s bouffant hair.

It Director Planning On Making It Part 2 Before Robotech

Andy Muschetti is a director in demand! Next Friday, his next film, the highly anticipated adaptation of Stephen King’s It, hits theaters. After that, Muschetti has Robotech and It Part 2 on his docket.

Though the film has not been marketed this way, It was always developed to be two parts, as King’s original novel deals first with the protagonists as children and later with them as adults. Likely, WB was waiting to gauge the success of this year’s It before moving forward with the sequel, but due to early positive critical reactions, high audience anticipation, and great box office projections, it looks like It is going to be a record-breaking hit for September. So, now that It Part 2 is officially in the works, what comes first, that film of Robotech?

Muschetti told Bad Taste that he will not do Robotech until the second part of It is complete.

Ice Cube confirms Last Friday is in the works

Appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Ice Cube has revealed that development is underway on a fourth instalment of the Friday series, and while it doesn’t have a release date yet, there is a title:

““We’re working on one right now,” said the rapper turned actor and writer. “We’re gonna call it Last Friday.”

Ice Cube didn’t have any other details to offer, but one would assume that he will be starring in the film and writing the screenplay, as he has done with the previous three instalments.

We’ll also presumably see the return of several franchise veterans such as John Witherspoon (Willie Jones) and Mike Epps (Day-Day), although it remains to be seen whether Chris Tucker could be tempted back to the series for the first time since the original.

The first Friday was released back in 1995, and was followed by

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil keeps its date with 28th October, set to be Biggest Romantic Musical of 2016

Early this morning at 3:31 Am, Karan Johar tweeted ‘#AeDilHaiMushkil 28th October!!!!!! This Diwali!!! Next Friday!!!!!!’

Well, that’s a clear indication of things to come. The Big Date is round the corner. Perhaps it is even bigger than 16th October 1998 when Karan Johar made a huge splash with his Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji starrer Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Now that he has Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma at his disposal, the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil becomes all the more important.

“First and foremost you tell me which filmmaker has actually managed to make a credible romantic musical this year,” questions an ardent filmgoer, “None of the big hits actually belong to this genre. Look at the Top-5 grossers of the year so far – Sultan, M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story, Airlift, Rustom and Housefull 3. They have action, drama and comedy as the key pillars.
