Noël Guiscard, who served as an officer in Africa, has now become a mere salesman. But, being the sporty type and wishing to fight against crime and injustice, he has the idea to create "La Sauvegarde", a society involving boxers and wrestlers without commitment, meant to defend its clients against menaces of any kind. His friend Colette lets him know that Lambercier, the president of the "Consortium Immobilier" is being blackmailed by a former associate.

Josseline Gaël was imprisoned for collaboration with the French Gestapo for her relationship with Antonin Saunier by the time the film was set for release. Gaël was eventually found guilty and sentenced to National Degradation, a lifetime suspension of her rights as a French citizen.
