During an interview with Stig Bjorkman, when asked his reasons for accepting a role in the movie, Woody Allen claimed it was, "A lucrative offer." Of the finished film he said, "I believe if the movie had been made in Spanish or Italian, it might have had a prayer. In English it was an uphill battle for some very nice and talented people."
Cheech Marin said this is the worst film he's done.
Cheech Marin agreed to be in the film because he wanted to act alongside Woody Allen.
David Schwimmer was still on Friends (1994) at the time this movie premiered. Also, Elliott Gould appears on the show as Jack Geller, the father of Schwimmer's character Ross Geller.
Elliott Gould had previously turned down the opportunity to work with Woody Allen twice before - on Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * But Were Afraid to Ask (1972) and Deconstructing Harry (1997).
