During an interview with Stig Bjorkman, when asked his reasons for accepting a role in the movie, Woody Allen claimed it was, "A lucrative offer." Of the finished film he said, "I believe if the movie had been made in Spanish or Italian, it might have had a prayer. In English it was an uphill battle for some very nice and talented people."
