Critical Content has set separate overall deals with producers Al Berman and Donovan Leitch.

The pacts call for Berman and Leitch to develop unscripted projects for broadcast, cable and digital outlets in association with the indie outfit headed by CEO Tom Forman.

Berman has a long list of reality and live event credits including “Survivor,” “The Apprentice,” and “The Biggest Loser.” Leitch recently worked with Critical Content on the eight-episode Showtime docu series “Naked Snctm,” detailing the goings-on at an exclusive “erotic club” in Beverly Hills.

HBO bolsters production team in Central Europe
Company makes hire ahead of Sarajevo Film Festival.

HBO Europe is re-upping its original production efforts in Central Europe by expanding its HBO Adria division.

The company has hired Ana Balentovic as a development executive. She will have a remit of identifying and developing local talent and projects from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Macedonia and Montenegro.

She will report to Johnathan Young (VP original programming, HBO Central Europe) and Steve Matthews (VP and executive producer, drama development, HBO Europe) as the company looks to identify original series from the region that resonate with local audiences and fit the HBO brand.

At last year’s Sarajevo Film Festival, the company announced its plans to produce one high-end TV drama series per year from what it calls the ‘Adria’ region (Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Macedonia and Montenegro), commencing from 2018.

It also launched the First Draft competition, calling for submissions for TV projects from the region. After

Last year marked the 15th anniversary of Donnie Darko, and Arrow Films is making sure that the film celebrates in style. They've teamed up with director Richard Kelly for a 4K restoration of the beloved cult movie, and following its UK theatrical release that began late last year, the 4K presentation is now coming to big screens in the Us (and on a new Blu-ray release this April). Recently, I had the great pleasure of speaking with Kelly to reflect on the making of Donnie Darko, restoring it in 4K, potentially returning to the world of Southland Tales, and the intriguing multiverse connection between his movies.
