Can Megan Thee Stallion hold off Doja Cat and Phoebe Bridgers to win Grammy for Best New Artist?
The Grammy Award for Best New Artist is a push from the industry for their favorite up-and-coming musicians making waves. While some past winners have admittedly faded away, a lot went on to become decade-defining or even generation-defining artists, like The Beatles (1965), Mariah Carey (1991) and Adele (2009). Let’s see who’s in line this year to join this list of influential winners.

Not only that, but her debut studio album “Good News” debuted at number-two on the Billboard 200 albums chart, becoming her third top-10 effort after her mixtape “Fever” (2019) and EP “Suga” (2020). Megan has also received acclaim for her confident lyrics and music, with “Wap” and

Saweetie, Doja Cat Celebrate Camaraderie in ‘Best Friend’ Video
Saweetie and Doja Cat call out misogyny and celebrate camaraderie in the new video for “Best Friend.” The song drops ahead of Saweetie’s Pretty Bitch Music, which is slated to arrive this spring.

The club-ready track opens on the pair lounging poolside as a guy proceeds to hit on them. They subliminally communicate with one another about misogyny and virtue signaling. Later, they celebrate friendship, taking a ride in a bejeweled luxury car, hitting the strip club, have a slumber party and more in the colorful Dave Meyers-directed clip.

Korean Cinemas Try to Adapt as Box Office Recovery Weakens

Korean Cinemas Try to Adapt as Box Office Recovery Weakens
Cinemas in Korea are trying to adapt to new straitened circumstances as the autumn box office recovery peters out. The Korean market, in normal years the world’s fourth largest theatrical territory, saw aggregate revenues of just $1.44 million over the weekend, according to data from the Korean Film Council’s Kobis service.

The top of the chart was a rerun of the previous weekend, with Korean “Best Friend” taking top place, ahead of local adventure drama “Collectors” and U.S. mystery thriller “Run.” But numbers were down in each case. “Best Friend” grossed $526,000, down from $1.03 million in its opening, for a $2.60 million cumulative. “Collectors” earned just $221,000 for a cumulative of $12.0 million. “Run” has $1.99 million earned since Nov. 20.

Weekend numbers dropped for the fourth frame in succession as audiences react to Korea’s coronavirus undulations and film releases dry up. Previous weekends had been worth $2.29 million, $3.77 million and $4.98 million.

Nationwide grosses in November fell to $29.7 million,

Korea Box Office Slumps to $2.25 Million Weekend
The box office outlook in South Korea, which last year was the world’s fourth largest theatrical market, turned from bad to worse. Gross revenues over the weekend dropped to just $2.24 million, a slump of 40% compared with the already depressed $3.70 million total of the weekend before.

In the intervening period cinemas in the Greater Seoul area have been required to increase social distancing measures and cut their seating capacity, as a reaction to the latest surge in coronavirus cases.

From Tuesday, Seoul was placed under Level 2 restrictions on a scale of 1 to 4 of virus response. Cinemas can stay open, though many other indoor activities are banned for a week, and private groups cannot exceed more than 10 people.

Additionally, it emerged that another batch of films that had previously been targeting a theatrical release have now decided on a direct to streaming approach instead. These include the much anticipated “Space Sweepers,

How Sofi Tukker Have Kept the Music Going Every Day Throughout Quarantine
For Sofi Tukker, the music doesn't stop. When strict social distancing measures in place to slow the global coronavirus pandemic forced the popular Edm duo to stay put at their shared home in Miami for much of the foreseeable future, it meant that tour dates would have to be postponed and fans would have to some time until it would be deemed safe for live music to resume. But just because the Grammy-nominated hit makers couldn't perform bops like "Drinkee," "Best Friend" and "Purple Hat" out on the road didn't mean they had any intention of going silent. Instead, Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern have taken their show to Instagram where the two have...

Porgs 101: Everything You Need to Know About the Adorable ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Creatures
Even their name is cute. Porgs — teensy, tiny, and be-feathered — are the latest creature to enter the sprawling sci-fi “Star Wars” universe, though we can only hope they prove to be as charming as Bb-8, and less like Jar Jar Binks. Inspired by the real-life inhabitants of a crucial location from this year’s upcoming “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” the new animals instantly captured hearts after being introduced with not much in the way of fanfare.

Lovingly created by “The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson himself, the months since they were first introduced to the Star Wars faithful have only increased demand to know still more about the screaming sea birds and their place in the mythos.
