Trivia

The first thing to appear on-screen is a little blurb about the Yugo car company using the town of Verplanck as a test area for their new model years ago. Every vehicle in town that is not a truck is a Yugo, except the police cruisers, which are Plymouth Horizons. See more »

Goofs

Phil's shirt when he is looking in the mirror is dark, when he is in the funeral home in the next scene it is a white striped shirt. Jeff's shirt appears to be a black button down silk shirt with a green design, however when at the funeral home he has a regular black t-shirt with a band logo on. So both Phil & Jeff have different shirts on than what is shown them going to the wake in. See more »

Quotes

Jeff: [while threatening to kill himself] I know you all think I killed my parents.
Chief Wyatt Rash: We don't think you killed anybody!
Jeff: Yeah? Well, you're full of shit! Everyone know I've been wanting to get back at her ever since that night...
[a flashback shows Mona cleaving a sausage]
Jeff: Hey, Ma, there's no more beer. Give me some of yours.
Mona Dearly: Don't touch that beer, Jeff.
Jeff: [reaches out] Oh, give it to me.
Mona Dearly: I SAID...
[cleaves his hand clean off]

Hilarious and well-done
6 March 2001 | by See all my reviews

This off-beat comedy is definitely one of the better movies I've seen recently. The plot is engaging and fast-paced; the movies doesn't even come close to the two-hour mark. The conclusion is satisfying and unexpected.

Every actor is perfectly cast. Casey Affleck gives an excellent performance as put-upon Bobby Calzone, Neve Campbell is terrific as Ellen, Bobby's fiancee, and Danny DeVito is loveable and sweet as police chief Wyatt Rash, Ellen's father. All in all, this is a very good movie, perfect for a lazy day.
