Feline sorceress Catrina and her lizard servant Rep, who loves her, force enslaved little furry Bushwoolies to make her magic potion. They revolt and escape, so she plans to replace them with Little Ponies, who are having a costume ball.
The Care Bears live in a faraway place up in the clouds called Care-a-Lot. They travel around the world on Missions in Caring, whilst evil villains such as Professor Coldheart and Lord No Heart, try to thwart their plans.
After learning that her friends, as well as herself, are the magical Elements of Harmony, studious unicorn Twilight Sparkle is sent by her mentor, Princess Celestia, to Ponyville to study the magic of friendship with help from her friends.

Via a magic mirror, Twilight Sparkle travels into an alternate universe in order to recover a crown that was stolen from the Crystal Empire. Upon her arrival she is horrified to learn that she has turned into a human.
This was one of the better cartoons of the 80s (and surprisingly good for one based on a toy). If you were to watch it today, it would remind you a lot of the current series "Dragon Tales" on PBS.
Then again, I don't know if the dragons have to deal with such enemies as the soul eating Arabus and the youth stealing Somnambula. Then again, 80s kids ARE made of tougher stuff. And this was a cartoon for GIRLS!
