Storyline

Miguel Horta is a young and idealistic politician during the military dictatorship, recently installed in Brazil. He comes to the conclusion that, in order to help the people, he must infiltrate the government, so he switch to the situation party, much to dismay of his fellows at the worker's union, that consider him as a traitor. One day, a campaigner catches him with news of a 'coup' in the union perpetrated by syndicalists loyal to the government, because of a law project he authored. Althoug his wife, Clara, pleads him not to, he rushes to the union, where the workers are reunited to a general assembly.
