Jerry Cooper is The Dogwalker, a Tom Sawyer grown up for the nineties, who having fallen on hard times, is struggling with the reality of having to sleep in his car. When he quite literally stumbles upon an old lady and her dog, he suddenly finds himself caught up in her life and over her head in a twisted mix of class, race, age, sex, drugs, dog leashes, inheritances and contract bridge.—Paul Duran

The market is bust and there's little money to be had in Los Angeles as Jerry (Will Stewart) begs for change and searches for a home, sometimes living in his broken down car. When he helps a woman, Alma (Carol Gustafson), who is knocked down by her own dog, he lands a job as a live-in caretaker and the woman's daughter, Helene (Stephanie Kramer), keeps him on to function as her boy-toy as well. Jerry seeks to make a big haul with this new opportunity and enlists the help of his friend Mones (Tony Todd) and others to rob Alma. In a serio-comic twist of fate the thieves end up staying for a night of merriment as some of the aged friends of Alma's like Ike (John Randolf) and others make friends with the younger group. Mones and Ike bond in particular ways when the octogenarian shares some special advantages of his retired condition to bridge the generation gap. When an emotional change in the old friends motivates Mones to step in, the tone of the relationship changes and egos lash out.
