Trivia

It's barely noticeable, but in Part 1, when the Roman who had stolen grain, was brought in front of Cleopatra, she is holding the Crook and Flail. In the close up views she is holding Them correctly, with the open end of the Crook up. In the farther away views, it is held with curved end still Linking up, the opened side is pointing downward. Goofs

The legionaries are dressed like the Imperial Legions with lorica segmentata armour (plate in sheets held together by joints) and not as the post marian reform units they really were at that time that would wear a sort of chainmail armour or "Lorica Hamata". It is contested by some historians even that the Lorica Segmentata never reached widespread use and even maybe only functioned as a ceremonial type of armour. In any case the first known (minor)a ppearance of this armour is in 19 BC, some time after the events portrayed in the movie. See more »

Enternaining film, and Cleopatra herself was amazing.
3 June 2008 | by justdimSee all my reviews

This film was fun and entertaining, for sure, Timothy Dalton as Ceasar and Billy Zane as Marc Anthony were brilliant, in my opinion. And Leonor Varela did an OK job as Cleopatra, i think. The story is fine, i liked the cinematography and costumes, but the battle scenes are very poor, to be honest. But i guess that is to be expected of a TV movie. The most important thing for me tho was Cleopatra herself, because i am a big fan. I used to read many books about her when i was younger, and she always fascinated me. She still does. I doubt she was beautiful to the standards of our time, but when i saw Cleopatra in this movie, i didn't care, i wanted to believe she was as completely insanely beautiful and seductive as Leonor Varela is in this movie. A few times in this film she says that she's a goddess, and she does indeed look like one, amazing!
