Storyline

At a top-secret UNIT facility Dr Sally Arnold is studying an alien artifact, a Nestene energy unit. It is unresponsive until, as a last resort, she feeds into it a cosmic signal from UNIT's most powerful deep space scanning satellite. This causes a violent release of energy that kills her assistant Janice. The energy unit has vanished, however it is not gone. The energy unit has made a replica of the warehouse's senior archivist Graham Winslet. A UNIT containment team led by the mysterious Lockwood is dispatched to the warehouse - but this storage facility soon turns into a battlefield as several dormant Autons stored there are reactivated. Can UNIT stop them? Could there be something of use to them stored in the warehouse? Written by Mark_a_Wood <markawood@hotmail.co.uk>

A turning point for British indie science fiction
20 June 2001 | by See all my reviews

It may not be the most original story in the world, this is essentially Alien in a warehouse, but Auton represents the next development for low budget Doctor Who spin offs.

The first in a trilogy, Nick Briggs and BBV have put together a quality cast and an intriguing story which goes beyond fan fiction and becomes a real independent film.

I urge all sci-fi fans in general to seek out this movie, then see the very impressive sequel.
