Astro-Kommando AK1 -- a six-member special police unit consisting of commander Hagen Dahlberg, attractive woman inspector Jenny Harland, daredevil pilot Charly Schumann, navigator Stephan Rubelli, mechanic Thorwald and Dr. Jokostra, a sort of female "Q" -- not only fights organised crime in Berlin but is also called in regularly to troublespots where ordinary units can no longer cope. The AK1 team's most important weapons are a bulletproof high-tech helicopter, plenty of courage and a great sense of humor -- making them more than a match for crazed serial killers, evil arms dealers, crafty art thieves and foreign agents!Written by
Germany just keeps on influencing European culture. Wagner, Brecht, and now "HeliCops"!
"Airwolf" or "Blue Thunder" it's not but then again there will be only one Airwolf and Blue Thunder, it is however OK fun. I mean, what other show would give you a chase-scene between a scooter and a CGI super-helicopter in downtown Berlin!? The scripts are often in the "A-Team" and "Bionic Woman"-mold but the special-effects are surprisingly good so like I write in my summary: it is silly, but never without charm or entertainment value.
But I still miss "Derrick".
