Storyline

Gunners spent the night in the small village. Misters officers are invited to tea by the local landowner. During solemn tea drinking of the Lieutenant Ryabovich who got lost in the dark in rooms of the old house, the stranger unexpectedly kissed. The great lady - such she seemed to the lieutenant. Be on Ryabovich's place someone other, less romantic, more sober, would consider all this as an amusing adventure, but for Ryabovich a strange episode at von Rabbek from whom really there is only a reminiscence, it appears the event which opened hopeless scarcity of days, lack of caress, love, happiness.
