Did You Know?

This is the first known adaptation of the soviet novel "The Twelve Chairs" by Ilya Ilf and Yevgeniy Petrov. The basic idea from this movie, in which a barber and an antiquary were seeking money sewed in one of a group of chair, was later reused for other official and unofficial adaptions of the book, including "13 Stühle (1938)", "L'eredità in Corsa (1939)", "Treze Cadeiras (1957)", "12+1 (1969)", "Mein Opa und die 13 Stühle (1997)" and many others. Most of these movies were also using 13 chairs instead of 12, borrowing also the new ending from "13 Stühle (1938)", another adaptation of the novel. See more »
