This film has a special place in the Chinese movie industry
17 December 2003 | by zzmaleSee all my reviews

Although it was not the first Chinese movie made, it was a first major success and as the result of its success, the Chinese movies made around that time were very similar to it: most of them were martial arts flicks.

Another importance of this film in the early era of Chinese movie industry was that it pioneered the large scale adoption of movie theaters for the general public which included the middle and lower classes.
