This was a cute little short subject from MGM where a Jerry Bergen who's about the size of Bernard Gorcey comes into a restaurant kitchen looking for a handout. When the cook sees him carrying a violin he realizes this is an artist down on his luck. But this is more than a restaurant, it's a nightclub kitchen and the owner insists on him performing for his supper.
This was the thread on which Bergen played and a couple of other acts performed. In the end though he's just another itinerant musician.
The Little Maestro touches all cylinders, it's funny and wistfully sad. I think you'll enjoy it.
