            Review By Kamal K

The dialogues, analogies, simplicity of delivery and peaceful pace of the movie stands the movie apart. It reflects the times of 70s Indian Office culture. The analogy of Coffee and Tea as wife and girlfriend being the center of movie is awesome.

A Slow Film saved by a good ending..

This is a Hindi language film starring Sanjeev Kumar, Sharmila Tagore and Sarika.

I'm an art film lover. But art film isn't meant to be slow just for the sake of it. The film is terribly slow due to many unnecessary scenes. The film could have delivered the message, with all the feelings and still have been cut short by 30-45 minutes.

I say this because the film otherwise has a powerful message, a good job by the writers. A message that marriage has foundations stronger than what's perceivable to the eyes..

Put a little effort to brush off the dullness and you will rediscover the beauty within. You never really fall out of love, it's just about reminiscing it and rekindling it again.

I wish the film was better edited.. Of the current length one can only say that the three actors got ample room to showcase their talents, well at the cost of the audience...

I'd rate it it 6/10 on IMDB

A movie that moves with the speed of life

It takes something to make such a movie... great direction, I would say. There are periods of silence, there are talks and the talks actually take the time they would have taken in real life. The story is simple. A simple family of three, middleclass, the wife saving money to get a house of their own, and this saving is at times on the cost of little pleasures and conveniences in life. In the meantime the husband finds another girl who comes as a perfect soulmate. They start sharing a close relationship, a closeness that one ever achieves in reality, a closeness where both share the same emotional, psychological and philosophical grounds. And then comes the obvious... a dilemma for the husband, distance between him and his wife growing and an unclear status for the other female. And then he decides to tell his wife and leave her...

A must see for all the people who believe relationships go beyond spending time together. Its a real slow movie, and rather than focussing on what happens, the idea is to involve oneself in feeling the moments that make a relationship grow.

            AVERAGE

The basic storyline was excellent but the movie trudged along at such a painfully slow pace that it became an absolute struggle to complete it. The 2hrs 23minutes long movie should have been trimmed by at least 30 minutes. All of the songs were totally unnecessary and should have been left out completely. Since it was a very low budget film the production values were extremely poor and very ordinary, alongwith the acting of the junior cast who were all totally unimpressive.

This was a very unchallenging role for the brilliant Sanjeev Kumar, who just went through the motion of acting, very disinterestedly.

Sarika besides looking extremely beautiful was very average in her acting.

Sharmila Tagore however gave an excellent performance as the subdued wife who went through emotional turmoil at the hands of her confused husband.

All in all very poor editing with unwanted songs reduced the quality of the movie dramatically.

            5/10.
