In June 2014, comedian Pete Holmes’ TBS talk show “The Pete Holmes Show” was cancelled after just nine months on the air. But now, Holmes is set to make a comeback with a new stand-up special and a half-hour sitcom, executive produced by Judd Apatow. His new series “Crashing” follows a young comedian (Holmes) whose wife (Lauren Lapkus) abruptly leaves him for an Italian boxer. Holmes wrote the pilot and it will be directed by Apatow. Watch a sneak peek trailer from the series below.

Dane Cook is one of the most financially successful comics of all time -- he's also one of the most controversial.
Cook exploded onto the national scene with two certified platinum comedy albums and historic sold-out shows, though many people questioned the origin of several of his jokes. But whether you believe he's "stolen" material from other comics (like Louis C.K.) or not, there's little denying his talent and presence as a performer. With starring roles in "Good Luck Chuck"(2007) and "Dan In Real Life" (2007), Cook is no stranger to the silver screen. This summer, the comic/actor returns as the voice of Dusty Crophopper in "Planes: Fire & Rescue."
From his superhero audition to his embezzling brother, here are 21 things you probably don't know about Dane Cook.
1. Dane Cook was born March 18, 1972 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Donna Jean Ford and George F. Cook.
2. Cook's family was Roman Catholic.
3. He...

Well, it’s that time of year again. As shows start airing their season finales, the world is nevertheless abuzz with TV-related news and hype. The upfronts mean that everyone is attempting to gear up for next season, and viewers are hopefully finding shows that they can look forward to. And, it’s award time. After the brief rest since the movie awards were the big thing on everyone’s mind, now we kick into TV awards.
The Btja (of which I am a member) announced their nominees today for the Critics’ Choice Television Awards.
And you know what that means. That’s right, just like during movie awards season, it is now time to cheer on your favorites, and gripe about the snubs and odd choices. Frankly, I find a few odd selections in here myself, and I have a decent list of snubs, some of which stagger the imagination.

Sadly, Bee Gee Robin Gibb has been confirmed to be in a coma in London. It's sad, but also strange, with Glee going disco this week. They had that oddly timed Whitney Houston song as well. Does anyone have the whereabouts of Ryan Murphy?
Ithacapella, Premium Blend, and Ic Voice Stream got together to do a a capella cover of "Born This Way" with the proceeds going to The Ali Forney Center and the Born This Way Foundation. You can find out more about the project here, and buy the song on iTunes here.
The Hunger Games seems to be tracking to win the box office again this weekend, taking in an estimated $20 million. I'm hoping this means I can get a ticket by my next day off. The Three Stooges is heading for $17 million, and Joss Whedon's The Cabin In the Woods is drawing $13 million.

Get ready to be amazed!
Three Ithaca College a cappella groups (Ithacappella, Premium Blend & Ic VoiceStream) have teamed up with Pentatonix, winners of NBC's reality competition "The Sing-Off," to record an absolutely unbelievable version of Lady Gaga's empowerment anthem "Born this Way" for charity … and while you might think you hear synths and other instrumentation on the sample below, you'd be wrong, it's all a cappella. Listen:
The song is available on iTunes with the proceeds being equally divided between Gaga’s anti-bullying Born This Way Foundation and the NYC's Ali Forney Center, the nation's largest organization serving homeless Lgbt youth.
Last summer, after making a series of anti-gay remarks at a comedy show in Nashville, "30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan visited the Ali Forney Center to speak with homeless Lgbt youth about the issues we face, and later that same day, MTV News had the opportunity to talk to Carl Siciliano,...

The Jay Leno Show is set to debut on NBC on Monday, September 14 and whether you are excited or disgusted with this 'future of television' idea that is his show, chances are you're probably going to tune in, at least for those first few episodes. The buzz generated around this odd concept that will combine topical humor, celebrity guests, street correspondents, and God only knows what other comedic elements has been at an all-time high lately, and many reports are confirming the facts that even if Leno comes in dead last every night of the week in ratings, his show could still be profitable and lead NBC forward into the future. Of course, that doesn't mean that his ratings don't matter, but exactly what ratings NBC hopes for or expects is a question they haven't seemed willing ot answer yet. So is the future of NBC on that any of...

Daniel Tosh, who's been a staple on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" as well as the star of his own stand-up comedy special "Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious," played a set at the South Beach Comedy Festival that would keep Comedy Central censors firmly placed on the bleep button.
Tosh's performance at the Lincoln Theatre in Miami Beach, Fl showed why he's made a name for himself in the Comedy Central world populated by the likes of Dane Cook and Carlos Mencia.
Tosh's stand-up comedy is a mixture of genuinely well-written jokes with a good mix of shock value, which sometimes led to a polarized effect on the audience. The material included jokes about rape, untimely death...just to skim the surface, and Tosh was like a conductor orchestrating the laughter: sometimes you'd hear it from the left, sometimes from the right, other times peppered throughout the theater. But no matter what the threshold for hand-over-your-mouth,...

Comedian Scott Henry has inked a talent holding deal with UPN to star in an untitled sitcom from writer-producer Scott Tomlinson. The show, about an electrician (Henry) who is unhappy with his prospects and decides to go back to college to get his degree, will be based on Henry's stand-up act about the clashes between his hip contemporary outlook on life and the very traditional views of his Midwestern family. While the focus is on the project with Tomlinson, if it doesn't go forward, UPN would cast Henry in another pilot targeted for fall 2004. In the past two years, Henry had talent deals with Touchstone TV and ABC, most recently working with writer-producer Seth Kurland and the Greenblatt Janollari Studio. Montreal Comedy Festival alumnus Henry, who was a featured performer on Comedy Central's Premium Blend, is repped by ICM and 3 Arts Entertainment. Tomlinson's credits include Fox's Cedric the Entertainer Presents and MTV's The Andy Dick Show. He is repped by ICM.
