An orderly from a mental hospital transports a boy (who kills his mother in the opening scene of the movie) to another institution. The boy escapes, and runs into two sisters who are moving across country. He kidnaps the younger sister, and takes her to his old house where he grew up. The orderly and older sister group up, and try to find the little girl before it is too late.

"The Neighborhood Watch Lady of Chapman Road" is given a special thanks in the credits. While shooting in the stretch of woods where the Keller boy smashes out the window of the truck, a woman drove up and said "I'm with neighborhood watch," and threatened to turn everyone in to the police. The director mentioned to her they are allowed (in Indiana) to shoot on state and county roads, and to the sides of the road within a several foot margin. She then proceeded to take down the license plate of the show truck, which turned out to be a fake license plate anyway! See more
