Storyline

Andy Panda asks Pop if you can really catch a bird by putting salt on its tail. Pop tells Andy not to bother him only to hear a knocking at the door. The "knocking" is really coming from a woodpecker pecking against their roof. Pop sets out to trap the bird but is no match for its screwiness. He uses a wind-up explosive decoy that the bird falls for but when it explodes, he just feels "betrayed!" After giving Pop a wild ride through the sky, Andy pours salt on his tail and traps it! Two ambulance attendants come to take the bird away but they too are just as looney! Written by Matt Yorston <george.y@ns.sympatico.ca>

Goofs

The woodpecker's multiple pecks on Papa Panda's head includes one peck on his eyeball. Evidently the animators didn't intend it; otherwise Papa would have at least blinked. See more »

Woody First Appearance
21 October 2015 | by ja_kitty_71See all my reviews

I don't remember much of watching Woody Woodpecker cartoons. But I had watched this short online and love it, it was a little funny. Of course, I didn't know this cartoon mark Woody Woodpecker's first screen appearance. Also I didn't know that the great Mel Blanc did his voice, I mean O.M.G! he sounds just like Daffy Duck - his early cartoons that is.

I love the scene where Mr. Panda try to shoot Woody. But the gun didn't work, so Woody tries the gun and it works and hands it back to Mr. Panda. Then when Mr. Panda tries to shoot again...*BAM!* The gun handle morphs into a boot and smacks him right in the face. I also love the scene with the exploding decoy too.
