John Bull is greatly annoyed to find that his daughter is receiving the attentions of a young man other than his choice. He forbids his daughter seeing the young man again. He takes her on a trip to Ireland, during which time he hopes she will forget George, the young man in question. Alice tells George when she and her father start, etc., and George takes the same train. They arrive at Blarney Castle and John shows extreme contempt for the idea of kissing the stone, until his daughter tells him he can't because he is too fat. Then he insists he will kiss it anyway. He sends the Jaunting Car Driver for a rope to let him down into the hole beneath the stone. George steps up and tells John that he intends keeping him hanging there in the hole until he gives him his consent to marry Alice. This John agrees to do. After he has really kissed the wonderful stone, he discovers that he is somehow very happy, is able to appreciate the joke on himself and gives Alice and George his blessing. Lighthearted and laughable enough
26 August 2017 | by deickemeyerSee all my reviews

A pleasing offering, it gives us a love comedy that is lighthearted and laughable enough. Bunny has the lead as a stern parent who, after kissing the Blarney Stone at the castle, needs help but can't get it until he gives consent to a marriage. The picture's views of the ruined castle and the Irish country around it are fine in every way. Larry Trimble plainly worked it up to be played in Blarney Castle and has made a very fair offering of it. - The Moving Picture World, April 12, 1913
