Storyline

In this television show for babies, the four colourful Teletubbies coo and play in idyllic Teletubbyland. They repeat fun, infant-pleasing activities such as rolling on the ground, laughing, running about, and watching real children on the televisions on their bellies. Mysterious pinwheels and telephones rise out of the meadow to loosely direct the day's activities. The Sun, featuring a baby's face, comments on the proceedings with baby noises, and it rises and sets to begin and end the show. Written by Carl J. Youngdahl <zomno@casbah.acns.nwu.edu>

Trivia

The episode Teletubbies: See-Saw (1997) attracted controversy when it first aired due to the sketch involving the bear and the lion. Many parents complained that the sketch frightened their young children due to the uncanny appearances of the two animals as well as the scary dialogue, music, and voices featured in the sketch. Due to this, the episode was banned in some countries, and a new edited sketch featuring the bear and lion was made. This one featured more humorous and light-hearted content. The edited sketch first appeared in the episode Teletubbies: Asian Storyteller (The Fox) (2001). See more »

The Teletubbies live in a Nazi-style bunker where everything is "lovely". Genetically modified rabbits are their only living companions. A voice from nowhere tells them what to do, or tells them what is about to happen to them. They show a small film from one of their bellies and then repeat the film - this was another Nazi trick - repetition being used to brain-wash.

All of this weird nonsense is watched over by a baby in the sun. All the Teletubbies are named after slang for genitalia:- Tinky Winky (obviously the male organ), La La (female), Po (bottom in German) and Dipsy (Russian slang for the male organ.

It's quite amazing - you should watch it.
