On the DVD commentary track, Christo
reveal to director Albert Maysles
that it was actually Jeanne-Claude's idea to surround the islands with fabric. However, they kept this secret since they felt they would never get approval from the various government agencies if they knew if it was actually a woman who originally proposed this project. See more
