Watch All the 2018 Horror Movie Trailers We Have So Far

  • BuzzSugar
Call it the horrenaissance - horror movies are all the rage right now. Sure, frightfests have never really gone out of style, but 2017 has felt like perhaps the biggest horror movie boom since the late 1990s, which saw the release of such flicks as the first two Scream movies, The Blair Witch Project, Halloween: H20, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Lake Placid. The box office earnings support that theory. According to film stat site The Numbers, 2017 horror movies, led by It and Get Out, have grossed nearly a billion dollars, which is on par with what horror movies grossed in 2014, 2015, and 2016 combined. But 2018 doesn't look to be slowing down on the horror front. It features the latest movies in several popular franchises, like Insidious, The Strangers, and The Purge, plus the highly anticipated Slender Man and the "final" film in the Halloween series that features the return

Blu-ray Review: Warlock Collection [Vestron Video Collector’s Series]

  • DailyDead
Horror was in a weird place in the early 1990s. Most of the big franchises of the ’80s had more or less run their course, and in their place were a handful of new “icons” that would be turned into franchises whether it was warranted or not: the Child’s Play movies continued to be a growing concern, as did Candyman and Hellraiser and Leprechaun. One attempt to launch a new franchise that never quite took was 1991’s Warlock, which inspired two sequels of varying quality before calling it quits. All three films are now gathered together on Blu-ray for the first time as part of the Warlock Collection, the latest in the Vestron Video Collector’s Series from Lionsgate.

The original Warlock is genuinely something special—maybe not a new classic, but certainly a really good version of what it is. It’s a film with an impressive

The Stack: Holiday Gift Guide 2014, Scream Factory Part 4

Welcome back to The Stack. We are finishing up our look at Scream Factory 2014 releases in yet another episode of what has been a mammoth gift giving guide. Lake Placid (1999) is one of those films that reminds me of Lewis Teague's 1980 film Alligator which was written by none other than John Sayles. I like Teagues film better and would sure like to see Scream Factory release an Se of it. But Lake Placid is awfully fun and has an amazing cast featuring Betty White, Oliver Platt, Bill Pullman, and Bridget Fonda. The alligator effects have stood the test of time pretty well too. This slipcased blu-ray has a ton of special features. Finally hitting blu-ray is Ginger Snaps (2000) a movie that really...

60 Years of Godzilla: A History and Critique of the Greatest Monster Movie Series in Cinema

**Massive spoilers for every Godzilla movie, with the exception of the 2014 reboot, and Mothra follow**

August 6th and 9th, 1945 forever changed the course of history. When the first nuclear bombs were dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, World War II ended, but a new fear was born that dominated the thoughts of all men, women, and children for decades to come. The Cold War, atomic bomb testing, a cartoon turtle telling children to “duck and cover”, and this new technology that had the actual potential to literally end the world changed the perception of what was scary. Art reflects life, so cinema began to capitalize on these fears. Gone were the days of creepy castles, cobwebs, bats, vampires, werewolves, and the other iconic images that ruled genre cinema in film’s earliest decades. Science fiction was larger than ever and giant ants, giant octopi, terror from beyond the stars, and
