Storyline

It is the year 2029: Astronaut Leo Davidson boards a pod cruiser on a Space Station for a "routine" reconnaissance mission. But an abrupt detour through a space time wormhole lands him on a strange planet where talking apes rule over the human race. With the help of a sympathetic chimpanzee activist named Ari and a small band of human rebels, Leo leads the effort to evade the advancing Gorilla Army led by General Thade and his most trusted warrior Attar. Now the race is on to reach a sacred temple within the planet's Forbidden Zone to discover the shocking secrets of mankind's past - and the key to its future. Written by Tim1370

Goofs

There are numerous apparent plot holes in the story which are explained away in supplementary material (DVD booklet, novelization, etc). This includes the frequently asked question regarding the presence of horses. These remain goofs as far as the casual viewer is concerned, but they are the subject of much heated debate and are not now included in this list. See more »

Lives up to the Hype....
29 July 2001 | by See all my reviews

I went to see this film with great expectation. I loved the original series of films, and I expecting this to be just as good if not better, and it was! It's hard to say if it was better, I'd say, they are almost on different grounds, due to the Special FX we had in the 60's and the stuff we got now. So that changes a lot, but it's not just the FX, the story is great, it keeps you guessing, and near the end, you just..don't know what to expect, I didn't and I read about the ending on the net anyway. This was defiantly a "Re-Imagining" not a "Re-make" This is so different than the first. In fact, I don't even know what the heck the ending was about, was it earth, was it another planet...I swear, you think about the ending to this movie for more than 5 minutes, your head will explode. But all I can say is, this movie rocks, great acting, awesome story, sweet plot, I'm just stoked for the sequel!
