MPAA Rated PG for language, brief teen sensuality and alcohol use, and for some thematic elements

Sex & Nudity

  • A boy shows his friend how to feel a date's breast during a movie. We see a boy and girl sitting in the back seat of a parked car, talking nervously. its family movie
  • A boy considers talking to an unpopular boy, and his friend warns him he can "kiss his chances of losing his virginity goodbye if he talks to him."

Violence & Gore

  • A man slaps and hits a boy; the boy's mouth gets bruised. A scuffle. A man cuts his eye in a mining accident; another dies in the mine (we see a sheet-covered body carried out of the mine on a stretcher). We see a man with a bandage on his head (his skull was apparently fractured in a coal-mining accident).


  • Although rated PG, there's still a fair amount of language throughout.
  • There are 3 uses of shit, 13 uses of damn (1 used as goddamn, 2 uses of ass, 9 uses of bitch (8 are used as son of a bitch), 1 use of bastard, 6 uses of hell, and one use of screw.
  • A couple anatomical and scatological references, lots of mild profanities and many insults

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • George Hickum is a strict, authoritative father figure who swears in literally every scene he's in. It is a bit edgy for a PG movie and his demeanor can make viewers uncomfortable.
